Carbon Fiber Lip

Anyone that has the CF Lip, any updates/new pics? Anyone regret buying one? any mishaps? Or is everyone generally happy they installed one?

I'm getting mine for $255 including shipping (new), is this a pretty good deal?

lol just look how many people have them in their sig... fairly good indication.

one thing though, 255 shipped for an ebay one is a bit over priced, but either way you'll be happy. i mean if you like the lip look.

if you need help with install i can give you a quick diy and some pictures.

hope you like yours! i love mine, i'm the only one around my area that has one on a c class, or that i've seen.

I know quite a few people that have them. Howard you got a hell of a deal if you paid less than 255. I think all the Sponsors here all sell the same ebay kind except Euroteck which theirs is what over 400 dollars? I guess you pay extra for quality.

They tend to fly off on the highway/freeway so if you do get it installed make sure you do a good job.

I'm a little paranoid because I heard a couple of stories where they fly off. Make sure you use bolts not just screws (atleast that's what I heard)
I professional is going to help me install it this weekend

ah geez, after looking at euroteck's prices, that will never be an option for me. i assume the taiwanese version is backward engineered (copied) so that it looks the same. i plan on taking it to a professional using 8-12 bolts.

Karo, keep me updated on the install price, plus new pics, love the look of your benz with those rims as is, the cf lip should look killer.

^^ Thanks, a member is actually going to help me install it. I think you can do it yourself as well (10 bolts should be perfect). Mine is Taiwan made as well and there is no problem with fitment so don't worry to much about it.
If you put 10 bolts I think you should be fine. But I will keep you updated on how it goes.

they're not copied. they're who originally made them for you know who. now they're off the china or hong kong to make'em for cheap.

if you are buying any MB aftermarket products such as CF lips or spoilers. always look for ones that are from Taiwan as an indicator of better quality vs ones from China. unless you want to get something's that made in USA. other than Vorsteiner or Technocraft and few others most people make their stuff in China or Taiwan. There's no exceptions including you know who.

if you ever wonder why people use the same pictures on ebay, etc. that's because that's what the manufacturer supply the vendor with. not because they "stole" the pictures. I've taken time and pictures to test fit many products for E46 few years back and even tested the you know who lip before they even received it from manufacturer and those pics have all been used through out.

of course i'm not saying don't buy the you know who products. they're decent fitting products however don't expect them to be better or don't expect the ebay ones be any less quality just because you are paying more/less. be aware of where the origins are is far more important.

lol so i went on ebay and did a best offer and the guy accepted within the hour, lol, i should have gone lower.

anyway, i've taken my car up to 130 mph and mine stays fine. i wish the other guy who i wrote a diy for didn't delete his thread, but i used 8 1/4 screws, washers, and nuts. sequence from the bottom is screw, washer, lip, bumper, and nut. 8 should be plenty.

just some advice, when you install, drill holes around the middle of the lip, that way there is enough support for the front. also, in my experiences, double sided tape doesn't do anything, since fit isn't perfect, it didn't even help hold the sides on.

i did mine in about 30 minutes, using the stock jack fron the trunk and a friend. just raise the car one side at a time.

picture of the ends, make sure you drill where the flat part is, it lines up with the bumper.

and here are the rest.

finished product.

I am going to install my lip tomorrow.

Do I need to take anything off the bottom of the car to be able to tighten the bolts. If I do is it easy to remove?

Thanks

Can i ask what you paid in total? I too feel i should have "negotiated" lower, and still have not made my payment yet, wondering if i can somehow try to get an even better deal still.

Also, howareyoudoing, before you got the black rims, what other mods were you considering to tie the black lip with the body paint? tint? or just knew you would always get black rims?

LOL i like how you spelled my username all correct and stuff. haha it's a pun if you didn't get it. my name is actually howard yu.

anyway, lol i'll send you a pm about the price.

and... originally i was thinking about vinyling my roof black and getting a cf diffuser with a quad tip set up, cause it looks weird if you only get the diffuser for tips on 1 side. at least imo. well after all that thinking, i realized something. my car is a c230 and will always be a c230. so i got over myself and tried my best not to spend anymore money on my car.

so as for my exterior mod list, currently i have (in the order i did them):
clear side markers,
flat hood emblem
30% tint
cf lip
19" wheels
yellow brake calipers

the car came with the trunk lip spoiler and two amg tips on the left side.

my goal was just to make my car different from the other c classes out there, cause i thought it was super annoying seeing at 3 of them in my apartment parking lot and like at least 10 on the road everyday. i decided to not lower the car right now for a few reasons: roads and driveways and speed bumps suck, i drive norcal to socal and back a lot usually with a full trunk, and i have fat friends. i also decided to keep the rear of my car as stock as possible, so cops that end up behind me don't try to pull something, so the only thing in the back is a gloss black license plate frame with nothing on it.

so there you go. personally i only got the lip cause i thought the bottom part of the bumper curved back in too much and wasn't low enough making it look flat like a cat fish. i think the lip solves that problem. only thing is i hate how it looks on the side. but i got used to it.

oh yeah what color is your car?

my paint is the brilliant silver. i had a 2004 c203 in pewter with bi-xenons before i traded to get the 2005. Man i miss the pewter and the HID's, but its worth it to have the AMG bumper.

It doesn't look like you have tint in your sig pic, is that older?

oops typo. i have 35% for the front and rear doors and 30 on the rear window. i kept it light cause i like the blue hue of the windows, and i don't want to get ticketed for it. just makes it a little different from everyone elses, and the uv protection is better.

hella people have silver cars around here, i'm sure if you looked through the picture thread you'd find something you like.

cant do one without the other Imo.. low with stock offset wheels just look like a buff guy with small scrawny legs lol. Save up and do both at the same time or get spacers for the stock wheels.

Well for me, rims are definately out of the question, not interested in dropping that amount of money when the stock wheels are pretty darn nice as it is (for stock wheels). I love the *** in the air look with these cars so i did consider dropping the front a tiny bit, but i think the CF lip should achieve that lower more agressive look in the front that i need. I'll prolly call it quits on modding for now until that upgrade bug bites me again.

lol i'd say don't upgrade till you need to replace something. a benz is a benz, nothing more nothing less. i should have just kept my car stock. lol.
