Get the 4Matic, hands down it makes way more sense than a RWD if you live in the snow/ice region. I suffered through 3 years with a RWD in the winter in Michigan, and traded it in for a 4Matic C280. I had top of the line snow tires on my RWD, which were good, but nowhere near what the 4Matic with all seasons could do for me. I borrowed by wife's ML once, and the difference was stunning. 4Matic is the only option if you live in a region with snow and ice.

MPG are meaningless. The cost of one accident or one slideoff into the ditch will buy enough gasoline for at least 3 years of the difference between the RWD and the 4Matic. And that does not take into account any possible personal injury. When you add that in, it's even more important.

Maybe I'm sounding paranoid, but I've logged thousands of miles in snow and ice, and the difference between RWD and 4Matic is the difference between fearful driving and peaceful driving.

Oh I know you was just joking . But you are soooo right about the dealer being sketchy man. I got a call early in the AM from them as promise. The feller goes

Yes sir. Is it really $17,000?
"Well ummmm well. Yes and No"
............................................(WTF answer is that?)
"Well it is actually $22,000"

But you got it listed in huge number for $17k? That is confusing my friend.

But when I do a search of how much I am willing to spend why does it come up as for sale for 17 when you say its 22??? Thats like false advertisment. Does it have a warrenty?

I would really like to find a 4MATIC. I have been looking at the 230 and the seats do not look comfy at all. I also belive that the 240 and 320 are a smoother V6 compaired to the 230

280 actually. OHLORD. What didnt we have go wrong on that POS. Maybe it was just mine. I dont know but it was far from anything reliable. For a car with like no electronics on it it was 90% of the time in the shop for electrical issues. Our E320 and W126 has 10X more electrionics on it and they hardly ever see a shop. But you get what you pay for. Belive me.

Issues included everything from interior plastic parts breaking such as center arm rest, glove box, sunvisor, BAS/ESP light comes on when it rains, all 6 coil packs needed to be replaced and spark plugs went at like 60k. Rust started comming where the trunk meets the body in the rear, car would not drive stright, radio broke 4 times, fuel sending units always went. I cant even remember all the rest of the BS. Just a bad car all around even when evething did work it was just a bad car. Unlike anything Benz has ever made. Seats are small and not comfy, ride is poor, handling is great though but sterring is way to tight, inteior is awfull and made from some of the worst cheap plasitc I have ever seen.(W203 is way better on the inside) Fuel economy is not that great. I drive all highway and could never get 30mpg.

the 2006+ C230's have a small 2.5L V6. Should be just as smooth as any other MB V6.

dam dude sounds like you need to find a different car . every dealer i have ever been to when i look at a car has a dealer account set up with carfax so that they can run as many as they want. sounds to me like the dealer has one but doesn't want to pay for it so they make the customer pay for it. The dealer i got my c320 to was one of the best dealers i have ever been to. no pressure from sales people, asked me what type of soda i wanted and when they didn't have it they sent a guy to the store to buy it for me even before i was going to buy the car. lol if you buy me vanilla coke i will do anything i am told. do you have family in other parts of the country? if you do you could search around them and maybe have more of a selection. i didn't know that it was hard to find a c class in the north east. even around MD and VA you see them everywhere. In McLean where i live the maids and house keepers drive w203 and w204. the sad thing is i am not even joking.

Ooooookay.

OP: Find a different dealership that doesn't do such shady advertising. That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard of.. though, not surprising. Dealers are such scumbags (99%)

I followed the link to the car, then wrote the manager an email about how incredibly stupid they are. This was the response:

Hi Matt,

I can definitely see your point about the $3500. We really don't like advertising that way ourselves. We had an outside consulting firm look at our advertising strategies and told us if we wanted to compete with dealers like the Bochs at $3500 cash or trade, or Quirk at $4000 cash or trade or Kelly Nissan at $9135 cash or trade, etc we would have to advertise like everyone else. We would love you to compare the quality of vehicles at Baystate Ford. We take pride in the inventory and we do our best to make the vehicles like new.

We are truly sorry that you don't like how dealers advertise. We feel that a disclosure is the way to go that is why we put in the $3500 in the ad in bold print and two times.

Definitely check the market out you will find that even after adding back the $3500 our prices are extremely competitive. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Sincerely,
Chuck Jo
Sales Consultant

BS still. Seen a lot of shady stuff by slimeball dealers in my day, but that takes the cake.

Nothing is wrong with it. Great car. But it just seems too much to pay for a C Class with that many miles. I know I know I am exteremly picky about this lol.

Omg I know that c240 is amazing. Im also looking at a 2007 C Class with 8,000 miles on it for a reasonable price. I got a guy calling me on it in the AM. But this is all very good choices are actually starting to appear.

So I am calling up tomorrow about a 2005 c class 4matic. 50,000 miles. $17,000. Sound like a good price? Car is 5 min away and I can do a PPI(Pre purchase inspection).

320 or 240 $17k for a 2005 with 50k miles is too much to pay. It's REALLY too much to pay if it is a C240.

You're not going to like the C240 4Matic. That must be miserably slow.
