I need some W203 Advice please.

Went to today and test drove the C240 AWD. Has 50,000 miles. I got some records with it. I have more comming in tomorrow. The power was fine to be honest with you. My old 280 was a bit faster but it drove like crap and shifting on that thing was a joke. This car is smooth as can be. We didnt get into price because pops told them lets get all records looked at along with a PPI(Pre Purchase Inspection). The price is actually fair on it. KBB says $20,000 for it. We got a trade in of about $6,600 but we shall see. More updates tomorrow.
Oh that 04 Ferrari 360 Spider they got there rides nice as well

KBB is a ridiculous source, IMO. Of course the dealer uses that. It builds them in $5,000 in profit for every transaction.
Edit: Edmunds.com says $15k is more like it. I'd agree. Even though I wouldn't pay $5k for a C240 of any year. (Sorry C240 owners, no offense).

if you are a normal driver and don't mind not so great performance the c240 will be fine. if you like to drive like you stole it 
you will want more power. that is why i have a c320 
the c320 also gets a little bit better fuel economy and comes with more options standard.

The C240 is the slowest W203, and in 4Matic form, must be really bad.

Fail. I didn't realize you weren't aware of the W203 levels. It can be confusing. The 2005 C230 has a 189hp supercharged I4. The 2006-2007 C230 has a 201hp 2.5L V6. The 2005 C230 with the supercharged I4 is even quicker than the later V6 C230.
The C240 is the slowest W203, and in 4Matic form, must be really bad.

The power seemed fine to me. I only drive highway with my own car. I have a house up north thats right near school and I go from there to school to back down to my other house. Its all highway about 30 miles one way from school to south house. About 5 miles to the other. So I will only be driving it about 200 miles per week. I get on the highway and set it to 70mph so the top speed and 0-60mph is not a big concern for me.

sounds like a c240 would be fine for you and if you can keep your speeds down which at least for me was torture you can get really good millage at least with a c320.

IMO if c320 is not a lot more money I'd go with it just b/c you won't need to push the car so much harder than in the c240 when your going on ramp and stuff and if your not driving it fast you'll probably get good mpg

Well today I thought I was going for that 2005 C240 AWD but I found another car that got my eye. Its a 2006 C280 AWD. My brother dated the sales women and I know her as well. She says she can drop the price down from $22,000 to around the $15,000 mark with my trade in. I have to go tomorrow and look at it. I still am not forgetting about the c240 but it seems that if i can get this 06 with 29k on it for a couple grand more then the 05 240 i will go for the newer one then. More upsates soon.

I test drove the 06 I was looking at.. It was a POS and I was angry about it. I go to the lady "I know for a fact the 280 is not a bad car. My uncle has an 07 and its great. Let me see the records"
Lady pulls me all records. The thing came from Union City NJ
. Not a good place to buy cars. I get in it shut the door and it rattles like a *******. I drive it and the transmission shifts hard and the car was warmed up. Oh ya it was 28,000 miles on it. Clean? Hell no the thing was dirty and they was like "oh ya no we cleaned it" Uhhh hauuu yaaa right. So I am passing on this 280 and going back to the 05 and I have a Pre Purchase Inspection(PPI) this monday on it. I do have a pic of the 05 4MATIC here.

I can't warm up to the non-Sport W203. Seems too plain looking, but that's just my opinion. I love the AMG treatment.

Well its update time.
I wanted the 05 C240 AWD with 49,000 miles. I take it to my inde for an inspecion with no fuss. Car comes back good as can be. I take it back to the dealer with the Ca$h ready to sign papers and make a deal. We sit down and the salesman takes out his phone and starts making calls on how much he thinks he should get for it. My dad said "I will pay full price for your car if you give me around $7,000 on a trade in" He starts going into his phone again and calling more people...Im like ummmm WTF!!!! He said back in may he would give $6,600 on my trade in car. Now he comes with these BS figures of $5,900. Im like "Sir you said that back in May I can get 6,600 and if i put NEW TIRES on it I can get 7k. I put 4 NEW TIRES AND A RECENT TUNE UP AND NOW YOU WANT TO OFFER ME $5,900???????" So here I am pissed off as can be pretty much as he sits there and goes threw NADA and KBB and all the other sites. After sitting there for 30 min and getting nothing done(Please keep in mind I have the briefcase full of $$$ ready to deal) and for some reson he would not couter offer to my aound 7k offer. Finally he goes well let me check with my boss and I will call you first thing in the morning. It is now 2PM and no word from him. GOOD BYE to them. I am just to go into the local Mercedes dealer and buy there because for some stupid reason this new guy in town here who I wanted to give the buisness just would not even attempt to deal.

. hope she doesn't divorce you i have never been a fan of any Mitsubishi product (Long Story) so i would go with a wrx if i wanted that type of car.

No interest in the Evo at all. I think they are kinda ugly. Also we have not had good luck with the Japanease cars
(New Infiniti Q45 and 2009 Nissan Maurano). I think the only japanease car I would buy are the Nissan GT-R. My neighbor at my house in FL has one. ITS AMAZING!!!!!!
