going to use this when i do my oil change.

Is it better to use an extraction tool like the mityvac or just jack up the car and drain the oil from the plug?

I think your suppose to leave the oil filter cap off when you fill it up with oil.. something about so the oil can get all the way into the motor.... i could be wrong but i believe that was said some place b4 to stoned to look.. i also have the same pump as you.. it sucks after about 4 uses it starts to leak oil.. Youll see but it still works good.

For what it's worth, I bought the Pela extractor. It is a much more simple design so it does not have the quirks described on this thread. It is also a pure extractor so there is no option to use it as a dispenser. I think the amount of effort to clean it after any extraction to use the Mityvac as a dispenser would not be worth the trouble anyway so I am very happy with the Pela unit.

It's been proven that a decent topsider will remove at least as much as doing it the old fashioned way. I'd leave your OCD worries to something that might actually be worth worrying about.

With regards to the oil filter cap being off during fill-up, this is completely unnecessary. Who told you that? That doesn't even make sence if you understand the layout inside of the motor...

With regards to the unit leaking oil, I've used it well over a dozen times (I've lost track) with multiple vehicles and haven't had any leaking issues whatsoever. However, with the valve issue I am having I would have an easy time believing that this may happen to me in the future..

Yeah maybe the smaller motors are different... But i remember now..

You have to unscrew it when your sucking out the oil.. It allows all the oil to move to the back pan.. But everyone does there oil changes differently.. ive done 4 so far and never had an issue..

I also had a lot more oil then you

Next oil change im going to use the pump.. Then after that im going to go under the car and see how much is really left..

I have the Pela 650 and can highly recommend it. I checked with the oil drain plug on my P-car and saw it was drained completely, so didn't bother with the C. Sure makes oil changes a lot easier...
