Question Smart Key Question Rolling up/down windows

I have a question about the Rolling up/down windows feature with the smart key on my 05 c230. How cfar away will it work from? my car unlocks from the top of an 11 story building about 50 yards away from the car, as well as pops the trunk.
However, when I try and do the Roll up/Down window feature it only works if the key is right up to the sensor.... is that normal?

There are numerous posts regarding the distance on that feature. Its all over the place. Please search next time for something that has already been addressed. Afterall these cars aren't new anymore.
