Went to buy a C55 today, but...
The dealer offered me $9,500 for my 2K5 C230K SS.... which might I add, has 20,000 less miles than the C55 they were selling. What an insult.

that is one nice c55. what would you take for your car? another thing to consider is i took my 01 c320 in to a dealer last year just for fun to see how much they would give me for it and they offered 11k. lol and it had over 120,000 miles on it then. i was looking at a slk55 that was overpriced so that may be why but still.

Wait thats all they wanted to give you? Ok thats poor. My uncle back in May traded in his 2004 C240 4MATIC with 98,000 miles on it for a 07C2804MATIC with 1,500 miles on it. He got $10,000 as a trade in. Ya I said $10,000. Sell it out right if you can. Put it on craigslist and Ebay. Good luck
Wow, what a joke. Had my car appraised a year ago, with value at $8k.
Mine was in perfect condition, fully loaded, with only 84k and had the damn thing serviced with most, if not all the bugs fixed out.
[i was looking to buy a CLS63 AMG at the time too]

Yea... I'm not crying over it. I know my car's worth more (to me...lol). I've only got 46K on it too! The only thing I'm sobbing over is $22K for a C55! That's almost the same thing I paid for C230 a year ago (I paid $18K, + $3K rolled into it from my MINI Cooper). It is sad that our little beauties don't hold their value as well as a Honda. Sheit... a $60,000 AMG that's 4-5 years old selling for $22K... that's almost laughable!
Would someone mind pulling an MMR for '05 C230K SS? I'm curious if the dealer was BS'n when they said that's what MMR was saying.
On a good note, after getting back in my 6 speed manual... I realized how much I don't really want a auto, even if it is a 370-odd HP beautiful beast.

$9500? It's a good thing I'm happy with my C230. I bought it in July 2008 for $19,500 with 25k miles. I love it so it stays in near constant use, now at 63,500 miles - it's not going anywhere.
That said, the idea you can only get $200-300 more on a trade is not true. I traded a 2005 Infiniti FX35 for a relative back in May (who bought a 2007 C230!) and the initial offer was $17,000. The final deal was $20,500 for the paid off FX35 and $20,991 for the C230. Negotiating $3,500 up on my trade. Here's the brief run down on how I did it.
2005 FX35 loaded, 51k miles - I knew I would take no less than $20k.
Salesman asks if he can have key to appraise FX. I give it to him, telling him he is to return it to me immediately and that if I have to ask a second time for my key, deal is off.
Salesman returns my key immediately. Asks if I'm buying today.
I say "I am buying A C230 today, yes"
He says "A C230?"
I say "Yes. It can, but does not have to be, this C230 here."
He comes back with a $17k offer.
Since I don't have to ask him for my keys, I simply get up and walk towards the door.
He chases me, asking me what will it take.
I tell him "$21,000"
He comes back with $19,000. I decline, head to the door again.
Comes back with $19,700. I decline.
At this point I write "Will close deal now for $20,500"
Manager signs it. Deal is done. I pay $491 plus tax, walk out with C230.

It wasn't my vehicle. I did it for a female relative who is a busy executive and didn't have time to go out of town and spend all day getting her car. But I did drive the FX35 and it was a good vehicle. Still, prefer the 2007 C230 over it.

That's crazy! The dealer I got my C55 from offered me $14,500 for my 06 C230 with 37k. They knew it had paint work done because they went around it with a paint depth gauge and I'm sure he saw all the bolts where the fenders were off when he popped the hood.
