As for brakes, rotors' being out worn at 20k is in my opinion unacceptable. I have Brembo rotors on the Stang and they aren't worn out. Trust me I know the difference between Hi perf and standard parts life expectancy. Will your "Performance car" go 100+ in the 1/8 mile? As for SRS light was the wiring harness or did you not read that part? But Im sure thats normal wear and tear.
I had the srs light too on my 05 something about a recall when the seat is pushed back as far as it can go it pinches some wires in the wiring harness...
I didnt need a new wiring harness, and they fixed it for free.. You should look into that and bring it up to them.. And my door handle fell off as well. unfortunate..
also as far as brakes go like the above mentioned , pads every 20000 usually, otors are "recommended" with every pad change but you can usually do them every other...

My front rotors are approaching 60,000Km and are fine. They will easily go another 40,000 & another pad change - maybe even further.

Come on guys.. some of you are not reading his post clearly or correctly. I knew instantly that he had bought the car new - not sure why so many assumed it was pre-owned. However, it should be noted that the 04.5 and the 05 C230 is not the same vehicle - so you should correct your signature. A 2005 car is a facelifted car with lots of external and internal upgrades.

Second, I see how you would be out of warranty time - but how were you "700 miles out"? If you have 49,700 miles you're not past the warranty period miles wise even now, though the time likely expired a year ago.

You don't have many problems considering what I've seen on this board. Can't compare a 16-year-newer Mercedes to a Rustang, or a Mazda. I find the Benz worth the extra upkeep - for it has a feeling no American or Japanese car can come close to matching. To me, it's worth it - doesn't sound like it from you.

Another thing - it's a fallacy to argue that a Benz is specially capable of highway cruise at high speeds. Pretty much all modern cars are capable of this. I think whoever suggested that was referring to that unquantifiable feeling of solidity, though.

Darn It!

Took car in for CEL seems vacuum hose torn/cracked was the culprit. Had them check cam sensor for leak, of course mine was bad. Had wipers recalibrated. Total $450, got her back and everything seems to be in order. New problem ... had 2010 loaner for couple of days. Man that thing is nice ... thinking about buying one ... Guess I'm hooked.

The vacuum hose is a recall (if it's the infamous $12 hose) - see the sticky at the top of this forum. I thought the cam sensors were a recall too...? I think you should have gotten out of there for a lot less.

Did they fit the pigtales to the new cam sensors?

Sounds like pretty common stuff. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Good job on the DIY of the alternator.
Dealers try to charge people 1500 !!!!
You could have saved even more by just having the existing alt. rebuilt at an electric shop.

As mentioned, there are other bigger things for you to worry about for this engine, ir the "M271". Leaking Cam sensors that get oil into the wiring harness and main computer (ECU), and if you haven't flushed the tranny, that should be on your list of stuff to do, and replace the orings on the tranny connection too, so it doesn't ruin the tranny computer.
See the thread on the $12 hose issue, it's a recall.
If you haven't had issues with carbon buildup and the bad head design, well....
ummm....if this piddly stuff bothers you, when you read about the head design issue you're gonna bust blood vessel and stroke!

These are all things you can learn about here on the forum.
Of course you realize this is a European car, not a toyota or honda...
stuff costs more, but there are ways to order parts online etc.

Spend a little time here, do some research, see if it's worth your effort.
To those of us here who love our cars, it's a labor of love.
I came from owning FIAT's so nothing surprises me.
