I'll be glad to help when you post the pics. I am not sure what parts your trying to describe. I have a similar issue, except mine was DTC P0012. I ordered a cam sensor and will replace soon. I have a 2007, so I have the same 2.5L M272 engine as you.

Jerry, I got your pics (Glyn sent them too), and they are highly cropped, so it is hard to tell but, it looks like pic1 you circled the magnet for the VVL, and pic2 looks like you circled the cam sensor. I will take a good pic of my engine today and post what is what on the front.

Thank you so much guys. So let say that on picture one its the magnet for the vvl, whats the job of it? What does that part do with the camshift sensor adjusting thing? The Guy at the shop told me that I have to get that part replaced since their machine keep saying camshift sensor not adjusted

In simple terms, the magnets function is to change the position of the cam gear to vary camshaft timing. All the camshaft sensor does is read the position of the camshaft so the ECM knows camshaft position. If they have a machine saying that the camshaft sensor is not adjusted, that sounds like, A)The camshaft sensor is faulty, B)The camshaft magnet is not working, C)The adjustable camshaft gear is faulty. That is the order of likelihood. This is assuming no one has opened up the engine and messed with timing chain tensioner, cam timing gears, etc.

Cool thanks for the info, I guess there is a lot of things that I need t know about. So would you know if there is any place sell this magnet online? I hope its not that expensive, and can I change it myself or it needs a lot of time? Thanks again for everything

Jerry, EPC isn't working for me right now, but if memory serves me the magnet was pretty cheap ~$40. Sure seemed like a bargain to me vs. the $170 they want for the cam sensor. Magnet should be a piece of cake to replace. Almost exactly like the cam position sensor.

man i cant believe this, are we buying those car just to spend money on it or what? your car is 07 and that like 3 years old and mine is 4 year old, i remember when my sister bought her 97 c class in 99 with 81k on it and it last her to 230k. she spend money on it but not tell after like 4 years of bying it and it wasnt not much of money. so anyways i decided to take the car for another shop for a second opinoin and they told me its the camshift sensor and the dealer recommend to change both at the same time. so now the first guy said it something about sensor adjusting, second guy said it the sensor itself. i guess i'm going tomorrow to see some other guy that my friend will send me to and i'll see what this guy would say. i'll keep you up with the news

P0170 = Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1)
It means that the fuel mixture is too rich or too lean & you need to find out why.
Could be MAF, or O2 sensors cycling too slowly due to age or faulty engine temperature sensor etc.
