Hi,
I bought my first MB three weeks ago, due to the amount of miles I do each week I went for a C220 CDI 2001. I put AMG wheels on it after a few days and had it remapped.

The problem is, it sits to high, I really want to lower it, say 30mm...but I just got 4 new Toyo tyres which are 225/45/17...Im concerned if I drop it it will rub when I steer...anyone dropped one on these tyres?

The car has just passed its MOT,so really the brakes should be fine but they seem a little louder than I expected when braking from speed...they dont grind or vibrate, they just seem loud...I dont know if its because I have come from a Audi S3 which has Brembo's that they dont feel too good or if it something wrong....they are fine around town...just when im doing motorway speeds they seem louder.....

Welcome - Suggest you look at the wheel & suspension threads - You have a massive selection of lowering options & on 225/45/17 tyres you won't have any rubbing problems. 245/40/17 will not give you a single rub.

Brembo are the Benz OE supplier. What pads are on the vehicle? On genuine pads you will have no noise - just lots of black dust.

Hi, Thanks for the quick reply. I will get the pads checked over today....the discs look healthy from what I can see through the wheels.

I will look at the springs and pick a good one, I think I need some new plastic for the inside of the wheel arch as I think it has dropped down slightly as Its almost rbbing now, it would defo rub if it were any lower....

Cheers
Matt

P.S....great pic... bit different to the LLandudno near me

Look at the stickies at the beginning of this forum. Under the DIY sticky you will find all the suspension, wheel & tyre threads amalgamated. Happy reading - there is lot's of it.

A friend on the forum - splinter - is running AMG rear wheels back & front on a C32. He has 245/40/17s all round & reports zero rubbing.

BTW - obviously named after the Llandudno near you!!! - Wales
