projector fogs...

Anyone have any experience or witnessed them in person? I'm mostly just wondering if combined with HID kit are they worth the swap from the stock oval housings....

I just got the projectors, the stock housing with the projector inside. I'm actually really pleased with them. I thought they were going to have plastic covers, but actually came with glass like the OEM fogs. I put 3000K 55W HID's in them too... works well, in fact it lights up the road way better than my halogen headlamps. Only problem I have experienced is infrequent errors saying either the left or right fog is out. I guess that's just part of having aftermarket HID's. All in all.. pretty happy with the projector fogs + HID's.

One thing I forgot to add.. while projectors I got seem to be pretty good quality, I did find that the leveling screw (that you can access through the front of the bumper) is not very well made, I stripped the screw head and actually popped the leveling screw out, so now I can't level my fogs until I take the bumper off to put the BiX in. ;-( Just be careful with that screw, it's made of soft plastic, and only use a phillips head screw driver to adjust it.

Yea, for sure... I'll take some iPhone pix when I get home tonight.

BTW, 3000K's are awesome for the fogs... especially when you first turn em on and they flicker green then warm up to bright golden yellow. ;-)

ya i'll def be getting some 6000k hid to match my bix...I have yellow fogs now and I like it but it doesn't do jack for light output....i think thats mostly due to our fogs aiming at the road...and i dont want to take the bumper off to adjust...but i'm mostly wondering if the lightoutput is better with the projector thus being worth almost 200 for them vice just putting the HID in my oem housing.

Well you do realize the lower the temp on the HID's, the more lumens they output - in other words, the lower the temp, the more light output. So 3000K's, even though they are yellow have better output than 6000K's. Look into it.

Also, you don't need to take off the bumper to adjust them... take off the mesh cover and to the left of the fog light is a whole, just stick a philips head screw driver in there and turn it. Be careful though, because it's a plastic screw and the head is easy to strip.

yes i know 6000k isn't more light output...i never said it was...4500-5000k is max light output not 3000k...and how do you get the grill off? is it screwed in or does it just pop out?

a quarter mile at a time
actually, 4300K gives out the most lumens. All other temperatures give off less light output with anything over 6000K having a big drop off.

There are clips around the edge of the mesh grille - theres about 4 of them all the way around, get a flat head screw driver and *gently* pop mesh grille off. You can even do it with just your hands (which is what I do), just be gentle with it.

Yea the fogs are 3000K's. They are the same in both pix, I think the BiX just drowns out a bit of the yellow at night.
