Poor C240 acceleration could be a water damage ecm

The first thing you want to look at is the bottom of the ecm for water damage. Look at the 2 T15 screws opposite the plug for any rust color or discoloration. This is a very common problem with c240 and c320 ecm (ME) . Some of the most common part numbers to fail are a1121530879 and a1121532679. If you need instructions on how to remove the ecu go here http://www.mercedesecm.com/remove-ecu.html The trick to removing it is to have the windshield wipers in the up position. Also the hood has to be latched for the wipers to move.

Different tire size

Did you change the brand/type/size of the tires, or did you change only 2?

If you have changed the rolling diameter of one axle in relation to the other, the ESP will "sense" wheelspin and apply the brake to stop this.

A co-worker had this happen to him on his BMW 3-series, and his car would come to a complete stop in the intersection when it happened.

Hopefully it's something simple like this. Good luck!

Frankly, I'm having the same issue here. In this case, I have w220 that has 18 oem wheels 255/45/18. So yesterday I changed my rear tires with Blizzacks /255/40/18. Now I'm having the same problem you mention. So I guess I should keep with size 255/45/18?

You need to try & keep the rolling circumference of the tyres within 2% of one another back to front. Tirerack gives charts on revs per mile for different tyres so you can check.

Sluggish acceleration

I have been having problems with my acceleration. It first started when I was making a right hand turn and trying to accelerate so a Ram truck wouldn't run up my @ss. I pressed the gas petal and the car just wouldn't go. I had the petal all the way to the floor and nothing was happening. Then all of the sudden the car just start to go. It has been happening off and on since then, especially at stop lights.

Today an orange triangle appeared on my dashboard when I was pushing the gas petal all the way to the floor. Then all of the sudden the car decided to accelerate and the orange triangle disappeared.

The throttle body valve was cleaned last night and the car is still acting up. Does anyone have any ideas of what might be going on?

Thanks for all your help,

KD
