No DRL unless they are those 194 wedge city lights. Is the DRL mode the same as the Auto setting?

Yes, you will only get an error when the car is running. As far as DRLs go, that's the Headlights = Constant/Manual. If they're set to present, then you have DRLs. All the DRL setting does is run the regular halogen low beam H7 bulbs at lower wattage so they are dimmer. It also doesn't run any other light other than the two low beams. If you get your Xenon setting set to present, the DRL runs just the two low beam lights at full wattage.

hey guys,

What is the difference between the 55W
APEXCONE RAPTOR HID KIT and the 55W DDM HID KIT SLIM BALLAST kit? Is the only difference the size of the ballast or are there any other differences/advantages of one kit over the other.

Also, has anyone bought the error eliminators and returned them because they weren't needed? Did DDM refund and pay for shipping etc?

Thanks.

Thanks, I checked it out. To be exact, my speedometer screen has the setting "Headlights = Manual / Constant"

I contacted tech support and they said the buzzing will go away after a week or 2 of normal use.

The difference is the size, but I can't speak for the quality of the Raptor ballasts. They're guaranteed, so I don't see any problem with getting them. I got my setting changed, so I not longer need the error eliminators. For that matter, if anyone needs error eliminators I've got mine laying around.

Sorry, I meant Constant. I was thinking about the Xenon setting. I'll have to check if mine still buzz at all. I think they do still when they are warming up.

So it is the DRL setting, the wattage of the HID kit, and the Xenon=present issue that determines if you really need the error eliminators?

I am beginning to think that the error eliminators that I bought are of no use now that I got the 55w kit and have always had DRL turned off. Too late to return them now.. But what about a set on the fog lights? They wouldn't need error eliminators right? 35w HID replacement for 35w fogs makes perfect sense.

As far as I know, needing error eliminators depends on either the Xenon=Present setting... or dumb luck. I needed the eliminators until I got the setting changed. Matt, on the other hand, didn't. I don't know if the fogs need error eliminators. Someone else will have to answer that. I'm sure DDM would take the return, but I don't know. Mine are still sitting in my glove box.

Ordered the 55W Raptor kit with a pair of error eliminators. Shipping to Ottawa, CA will take till Feb 8 . Ill keep you guys updated on if any errors are thrown during night time or DRL operation.

bdgdl08, I might be interested in your error eliminators for my other car. Ill let you know once I get a chance to try out the ones Ive purchased.

I have a 2002 coupe. I ordered a xenon kit over a year ago from DDM. I got the 35w 6000K for my headlights. I also had to order the error eliminators. Once installed the lights would flicker. I had to make a trip to the dealership to have them seet the headlights to xenon present. Lights have worked perfect for over year with no problems. They look great and are super bright.

So even the flickering is caused by the Xenon present setting not being set correctly? Why did you need the error eliminators?

Note to Canadian Buyers:
UPS charges a brokerage fee of 30$ regardless of duty fees.
Duties to Canada was $0, GST tax was 8.25$ and the brokerage UPS SCAM FEE* was 29.95$ plus they charge GST tax on the brokerage fee... total: $39.92 CDN

Other shipping companies have never charged close to that amount, at most I have paid for these brokerage fees is $5-10 for similar packages in value.

Unbelievable.

DDM should ship with USPS or anything other than UPS for CANADIAN orders as they basically rob you with this brokerage fee.

They're not any better here. I referr to them at UPS (pronounced OOPS) and the United Parcel Smashers. I like FedEX. Never had a problem with them.

Will do. Im expecting the package to arrive on Feb 8. Theyre probably going to charge me 30 bucks +_ the customs duty which i expect is about $10-13. So Overall I will be paying about 50% of the cost of the item in duties and fees and such. Thats ****ing bull****.

I might bug you soon for some more info on this. The stealerships here want almost $200 to change this setting, so if theres a cheaper way..why not?

Once I get my HID's Im going to try to see if the error eliminators fix the problem...if not I might have to resort to this. How much did it cost you?

hi, guys

I just had a quick question if my car headlight setting shows Manual/Constant. will I be ok with just putting the eliminators, or will have to get the dealer to do the present change, cause i dont want to go to the dealer and have them change the present cause my benz dealer is pretty dumb.

If you just set that setting to manual you will be fine with error eliminators.

Yeh the dealers here suck. When I went to inquire, he told me some horse**** about how the star computer costs 35 g's so it depreciates every time a car is plugged in, so he has to charge me the minimum labor fee + computer usage fees etc. even thought he actual setting change will take all of 5 minutes!

There are only 2 dealers in Ottawa, so they know customers have nowhere else to go. LOL. Im going to be in Toronto soon, so might get it done there, or try with an indy as bdgdl08 suggested.

since i regularly go to my indy to service my C240, we have a pretty good relationship so he did it for free.. but if you are paying for this xenon option set, then tell the dealer to suck a big one... and go to an indy with a snap on modus or star diag system and pay him like half an hours worth of labour like 40 bucks
