Sylvania Silver Star Ultra vs. GE Nighthawk Platinum
I already have Ultras in my headlights. They are far superior to the OEM Osrams however I'm not sure if they are as good as claimed.
I saw a new line of GE Nighthawk on sale plus a rebate so I decided to pick up a set. About the same regular price as Ultra and more or less similar bulb appearance complete with a small blue tint band on the top of the bulb, albeit with a darker tint than Ultras. Packaging of the Nighthawk Platinum is a bit cheaper as the lamps are suspended inside via a plastic form fitting cup from the bottom only. Adequate but definitely not a very robust packaging, same trend I've noticed with Sylvania packaging as well.
Here are the photos, you can judge for yourself but it seems to me the Platinum is slightly brighter, although keep in mind the beam pattern on the right side and the left side are different but generally the Nighthawk Platinum seems to fill the headlight slightly better/brighter. The passenger side is the GE Nighthawk Platinum and the driver side is my 6 months old Sylvania SilverStar Ultra.
