Need help with fog light

While washing the car today I noticed that the passenger side fog light is cracked.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement? (besides the dealer). Also any instructions online to replace it?

The car is a '01 W203 C320 Sedan.

thanks

fog light

Is it a stress crack or an impact crack? A stress crack will be covered by warranty.

If you have comprehensive insurance on your car (you must!), lens cracks due to rock impacts are covered. Just pay the deductible.

Once it's changed, get some 3M Stongard and cut it to fit. That stuff is amazing - you can't see it - except up close - but it's protecting your lights 24h a day. You'll never have a cracked lens again. I've got some on the C 230 K and the 405's front fog lights, the latter for 8 years without a problem.

Those glass covers are cheap, just go buy one. You don't need a whole new fog light. Go to the dealer and it's probably 20 bucks at the most. I got one once for someone, but it was at employee price. I think it was maybe 14 dollars or something like that.

As for installation, you're lucky it's the passenger side. I changed the driver side and there's not much room there. But you'll probably still have to get under the car and remove the belly pan, or at least the front edge to where you can pull it down. Unbolt the fog light and there are clips that hold the glass on. Just unclip it and clip the new one in. The clips have to go in certain places, so put them back where you got them from. Then just bolt the light back in.

Not sure if it's like that anymore...

While I did not do the job myself I had a cracked fog light on my 2001 C320 and the entire assembly had to be replaced. It was just a crack in the glass, and there was no other damage to the reflector. Still the entire unit had to be replaced and there was no mention of a separage glass cover that could be changed.

I also now have Stongard on the lights so I hope to avoid any re-occurence in the future.

Well..... I've the driver's side fog lamp cracked (seems like by stress) and I the dealership refused to fix that under warranty
By the way, they wanted $280 to replace the plastic cover and the bulb!!!!!!!! Are these guys crazy??? So I'm going to buy the plastic cover and the bulb and do it myself.

It's actually glass, not plastic, so be careful.

And don't drop the new one!!

fog light lens...

Any flexing of the front bumper cover panel in the corners can crack the lens. A hubcap shooting across the freeway nailed my cover and the right lens cracked. Easy replacement and the glass lens from MB was only $23.

Entire assembly has to be replaced for amg bumpers only. The regular ones have just the cover you can buy separately. Also those are available on ebay for under $100 for a pair of whole new housings.

The quote i got for the amg replacement housing from the dealer however was $190 and $220. I ultimately purchased from my autobody shop for $152.

fog light glass cover

Hello everyone

writing in from Africa right now with about 5 months left on deployment. I currently have a 07 C230 sport with a chipped fog light on the right from construction off 395 in Virginia. I would like to repair this when I return as to trade in for an 08 C230 sport.
Are the parts for 07's online yet and if not can anyone shed some light on a spot to pick up a fog light cover?
Thanks

You can get parts online from Duval Motors, link on my website. I think they are having some technical difficulties today but it should be back up soon. Don't know what a foglight cover is, but if they sell one, they would have it. You must mean the entire foglight assembly.

i had to replace the driver's side fog light cover couple month ago. I simply bited the bullet and bought it from stealer for 25 bucks. It's a very easy job to replace it by yourself. good luck!

Same here,...wife took it to the stealer and they quoted her a couple hundred. Technician pulled her to the side and offered to do it for half that. I had her buy the lens for $30 + tax and it took me less than 15 minutes to replace. And I took my time

thanks

Excellent, thanks for the replies. Yeah went to the stealer wanted 275 labor included, but then I went for the first service and I get quoted for 150. All it is is the glass piece, nothing more. My baby is waiting for me to return and sits under a cover, that just sucks.
Buellwinkle thanks for the link.
Jason thanks I thought about upgrading to the next year and do not want this piece to take away value from the car.

Also
sorry to post in wrong spot.
