please tell me what to check on a 2005 C230 kompressor-what to look for?
I'm planning jump over from the BMW side of the Force and get this car sometime soon. I searched around and found a lot of good info here, but still wondering a few things:
- TSBs: are these still paid by Mercedes? Or only if in warranty? How can I tell out of the huge sticky list thread what's important?
- What are key options I should try to get? And how rare?
- Folding rear seat? Ever?
- Heated seats-any hope to find?
- What were audio options for 2005? And how can you connect an iPod or AUX? (I saw a thread, but it was really general and out-of-date, maybe there's a newer/better link?)
- What to watch out for when test driving/inspecting the car? Since fauls should show up in the instrument cluster, and the underside is mostly covered, will spending time and money to drag the car to a mechanic tell me anything amazing? (I've driven C-Classes literally thousands of miles, so I can tell if it FEELS good or not, just wondering if a mechanic or MB Dealer can find anything I couldn't look at myself or via CARFAX)
- How much more do you think it's worth the get an MB Certified car?

Actually I spent I would say too much time searching! Found lots of great info, but I would submit not related to what I'm asking unless quite buried.
For example, if you search “C230” + “kompressor” showed 246 threads, generally unrelated. “C230” + “kompressor” + "heated seats"-zip. Likewise “C230” + “kompressor” + "folding seats" and so on. "Radio" yields folks with problems, not really explaining about options.
OK, iPod had a thread, but there was huge bunch of info, I'm wondering about 2005 specifically if someone happens to know offhand. Otherwise when I get the car I can wade through all the stuff...though I think that thread is maybe not up-to-date.
The question about TSB out of warranty...I didn't see my exact question, which I might rephrase as "If I buy a car that didn't have the cam oil problem etc fixed, will MB fix it?" It doesn't seem practical to try and ask some local dealer for a VMI for each vehicle I might consider purchasing, especially as I'll probably buy in a different city due to supply & pricing.
Anyway, if there are threads/posts related to the specific things I'm asking about the particular options, I'd appreciate links or thread names. And if anyone simply knows the answers, that would be great too.

If you READ when your searched you would find the answers to the info you seek.
Even going on MSN Autos will tell you the answer to your audio question and your heated seat question, or look at some on ebay and see the pictures and options listed.
The ipod thread if you read it is old but they stopped making these cars 2 almost 3 years ago now.
Also as standard for any car company TSBs are only done under warranty and only if something gone wrong normally. A recall is the only time you will have work done out of warranty for free.
