Here are some more pictures of the AMG Flat Badge. At this date there are only 61 of these in circulation on the planet, so they would make a very unique customization for your beast.

People still ask how flush to the hood my badges are. Here's a good example. You can't get any more flush than this...

Happy New Year to all.

As I write this, there are 514 WHITE STAR Flat Badges and a scant 65 AMG Flat Badges in circulation worldwide. Still an exclusive way to customize your Mercedes, regardless of which badge you choose.

Let's start off the new year with some new pictures, please?

Going forward...

With the purchase of either a WHITE STAR Flat Badge or an AMG Flat Badge, and I will throw in the chromed upright tristar that is removed from the OEM Mercedes upright hood ornament in order to make your Flat badge.

Use this star in several ways. Below are some ideas...

From time to time, I've gotten requests for WHITE STAR Flat Badges or AMG Flat Badges with the blue laurel wreath done in black, mostly from people with black cars.

In addition, there are some with the newer sedans sporting the blue badge in the upper grille who prefer to avoid the "double badge look."

While changing the color on badge inserts already made is not in the cards, I thought this all chrome style might work, instead as a third option among my custom flat badges.

So, what do you think?

The core of this badge is made from an S-Class part (#221-880-0086), not the blue laurel wreath cores from the W210 E-Class part (#210-880-0186). So the S-Class part will cost $10 more to buy from the dealer, which means the finished badge will cost $10 more than my previous work. So keep that in mind.

If any of you are interested in this new, Chrome Flat Badge, please click on this link DFWdude@tx.rr.com to let me know and I will put you on a list. At this time I am only gauging interest in this style and have not decided to actually make examples for sale.

These are great and I've loved mine for just under 2 years I've had it, but mine has started rusting and the clear gel/epoxy has started cracking like crazy...was this supposed to happen after 2 years?

I've only had mine for about 9 months and the blue paint for the wreath is chipping away. I know that this is the paint from the original piece and not something that was added during the modification, but now I don't want to use it anymore.

Stop driving so close behind grain and gravel trucks.

You can also touch up the blue with a fine point, permanent ink, dark blue Sharpie pen. The color matches perfectly.

Don't know how to answer this. Are you sure your hood isn't rusting underneath the badge? The badge itself is made of aluminum, and the badge insert is made of chrome plated copper, and neither rust.

Don't know about any clear gel/epoxy, either. There is no such substance on your badge.

haha, I try to not drive behind anyone, ever. lol. "if your not first your last" - Ricky bobby. I'll give the sharpie a try, if it doesn't work out I may try to black it out. I've been slowly murdering out the whole car anyway.

LOL, I know you have/had one of my Badges, but the pictures you post is NOT one of my badges! This is one of those cheap, wingnut badges... if one of Mario's pot metal badges, even worse.

With respect, my work should not be tarnished with the same brush, so please stop cluttering a thread dedicated to my products with these. Too Funny.

No problems. I do think the fellas interested in JBSpeed's hood emblems would like to see your pictures... in JBSpeed's thread of course. Those pics looked horrible. His badge does not hold up well.

Well, in fairness the longevity of these trim pieces really does depend on the climate in which it is driven, whether the car is stored in a garage at night, and outside during the sunny days, natural polution in the air, and whether it is maintained with the same care as the rest of the car. (Can you spell WAX? LOL)

That said, my work is based solely off the OEM part with lacquer laurel wreath, the blue lacquer color holding up in the elements far better than the plastic badge painted in enamel.

Even the OEM SLK flat badge often substituted for the upright is painted in enamel, which fades quickly in the sun. In contrast, I've seen OEM upright stars on 190E sedans where the lacquered blue looks as new after 20 years.

The clear coat cracking you showed in the JBSpeed emblem is quite disturbing.

Regarding my newer styles...

To clarify, I call these "Chrome Badges" because they look like chrome. However, truth be known, the mirror-like finish is a highly polished Aluminum, cast as part of the entire core mount of the original upright star.

All three style badges are available.

These Polished badges are a custom-order, side business, made only when requested. In contrast, my other badges remain available, and I carry stock of these at all times...
