What is "Service A"
I really don't have a whole lotta time to search the forums right now (might be deploying soon). My car is about to hit 64k miles and it says I need to have "Service A" done soon. What exactly does "Service A" entail? I'm just wondering if it's just an oil change that I can do myself. Thanks for the help

Nothing extra, or special that goes along with it? I'm just curious because my dealer wants $210.00 for the Service A. If that's all it is then thats ridiciulous!!!

Make sure you use the correct Mobil One also. It can be hard to find.
Otherwise you may have some warranty issues, etc., down the road.
Just my 2 cents.

pub from dealer
Otherwise, look at your Owners Manual or the publication "Factory-Approved Service Products (FASP) - 2008" that your friendly parts or service department should have.

There are other things that are supposed to be checked during a Service A, but nothing else is replaced unless they notice any problems. I'd do it myself if you have even rudimentary mechanical ability. Just make sure to save the receipts for the oil and filter you use. The instructions on resetting the service indicator have been posted in multiple threads.

Thanks for the filter info
Fleece oil filters are no longer available (in the US at least) for the M271 (the engine you have). You'll have to go with a paper one by Mann/Hengst. Are you deploying to Germany? If so, maybe you could grab a ton of the fleece filters and sell them to people on this forum. I know you'd have a lot of takers.

I've never had a problem with a Mann filter so that is a nice tip!
