What's this?

I was poking around the other night and found this connector bundled with the wire harness that runs near the subwoofer. I making sure the sub was actully plugged in because I couldn't hear the thing from the driver's seat.

My guess is the connector for the teleaid antenna? I don't have teleaid.

For reference- the black at the bottom of the picture is the actual subwoofer and we're looking towards the front of the car. The yellow thing is my flashlight and the fuzzy stuff on the left is the edge of the access opening.

Teleaid.

At least that's what it's connected to in my C32.

It's strange... I don't have Teleaid, but the coax connector is still there... So they pre-wire all cars no matter what?

It's for the prewireing for the Cell phone, There should be another cable further back that goes to the antenna in the back bumper.

Funny you should mention that. Just bought my car a week and a half ago, and it has already been in the shop for 4 days. Subwoofer was not working. At first I just assumed that Mercedes made terrible audio systems. Then I sat in an Infiniti G20 and heard their stereo. I told myself that there is no way that this can sound SO much better than mine. You better get it checked to make sure. My dealer went through 3 different parts before finally fixing it. I'm picking it up today. I feel like a parent who left his child at the sitters for a few days.

Boo2 - let us know how that turns out. The weak subwoofer is an old subject on this forum.

I was checking the subwoofer the other day, with the trunk open... It sounds HORRIBLY with any serious bass present... BAD distortion in form of parasite resonance induced rattles can be heard if you stick your head down there... I'll try to mention this to a tech when my car goes in for service, but frankly, I doubt that they will be able/willing to fix it, for this is a Bose made thingy. I'll try to replace it with a decent aftermarket subwoofer as soon as the fresh smell of new leather subsides...

Vadim,

I know what you mean about the parasite rattles. It sounded like everything within 6 inches of the sub was buzzing in that compartment. I couldn't find any loose stuff though.

The sub was able to reproduce some low tones but seriously lacks the "punch" that I was hoping for. That little woofer just can't move enough air. I think this might be typical of all Bose "spacesaving" subs?

Well, it works now. Just as I thought too. Driving around with the stereo sounding like S!@# for a week makes it sound really good yesterday . I would still like to upgrade it though, but where would you find a 9" sub to replace it. Would you go 8" and just custom fit it?
