need help installing amp/sub

I'm installing an Infinity Basslink, and I was wondering if anybody knew the best way to get to the battery from the inside of the car. I know I'll have to go through the firewall somewhere but I'm not sure where to start. I also need to get a signal from the rear speakers (unless anybody can suggest a better way) Has anybody does this before?I've installed stuff before in a few other vehicles but nothing this nice so I don't want to screw it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a coupe is fairly simple.

I run the power wire along the passenger side under the carpet..etc... towards the glove box. You will need to remove teh door sil to expose the carpet. Peel back the carpet from the footwell area.. (where the passengers right foot will be.) and look into that corner with a flash light. You will see a Black strip with 4 or 5 grommets in it. Remove any one of them to get access into the engine comparment ( thats the hardest part of the install ).

From the engine you can also pull out the grommet if thats easier for you. Its really easy if u remove the battery.. you will see the strip i was talking about. Or you can even see it if u move the rubber hose that drains water from the windshield.

For the sound.. I just tapped the stock subwoofer. And for the remote start up.. I ran the wire to the fusebox #7 i believe. I just got a normal fuse.. wraped the wire around it and plugged it ino. I didnt make a spade plug or anything.

I just finished doing exactly the same to my C230 sedan last night. I ran 4gauge (man it was pushing it ) through the series of grommets that are located in the corner passenger side. What are you putting this in? a sedan? a coupe? It would probably serve your best interest if you post your complete information so more people will reply.

IM me if you have any questions.... since it's fresh in my mind I can tell you every detail down the last pin or even the colors for the speaker cable. I was going to do a write up this weekend and post it so the next person doesn't have a hell of at time with it like i did.

I'm doing this in a Coupe, with Bose and Command. I'm about to go run the cable from the battery, but I'm going to wait till this afternoon to tap into the rear speakers. I could use some advice on how to get the signal from the rear speakers. Do I take the signal from the connection at the speaker, at the amp, or somewhere inbetween on the speaker wire itself? thanks for your help.

I tapped after teh amp before the Sub. If i remember correctly it was a purple and a brown wire. I just shaved off a bit of that wire and wrapped my amp wires to that. I didnt use a Hi/Low converter or anything and it sounds fine.

How do I use the remote turn on? I wired up the remote bass level control but I don't think that's what you're talking about. I saw a wire and screw connection for the remote turn on. I have the Command system, how do I hook this remote turn on up? Thanks for your help.

Shouldn't the power light have come on anyways? Maybe I'm wrong but I figured the power light would have come on.

the power light wont turn on unless something tells the sub to turn on.

There is a small thin silver wire that needs to be used for the sub to turn on.

You have to run that to the fuse box on the left side of the trunk to #7 .

THen it should turn on....when u turn the radio on and the key is turned.

I found the fuse box and number 7 but there is no fuse there. Is there a way to hard wire it up or is there something else I should do?

There are spare fuses tucked away with the spare tire and tool kit.

I almost bought a Basslink from Ebay too. Let me know how it sounds.

It sounds good, its lound enough to rattle everything in the trunk.. including all the pastic trim pieces in the back.

The bass is soft but loud.. its not the super super low sounds from a larger sub.

Not sure how much they go on ebay..but u can get them for 280 shipped retail from an "authorized" dealer if u care.

Finally got it working. Thanks so much for everybody's help. I would have had to pay some car audio shop for something that I could do myself. For those wondering how it sounds I think it's awesome. It has so much more bass than the coupe needs. I got it for $203.00 + shipping from gr8audio on Ebay. At first when I thought it was defective, he was going to send me a new one so the guy has been real easy to deal with. If anybody is considering getting a sub I don't think there is a better way to spend about $280 which is how much it cost for the sub, shipping, amp install kit and RCA converter. It also came with a remote bass level control which I put in the lower center console so I can adjust it anytime really easily. Pretty cool.

I put on the legs, but I haven't mounted it yet. I was actually planning on using velcro. Right now its right by the bose amp in the rear facing upward. Sounds pretty awesome.

Why did you need an RCA converter? I thought Basslink had speaker level inputs?

it does... the only thing u need extra from a basslink is

1 fuse/ fuse holder for the power. The power cable, and a ground cable.

The rest comes with basslink

What I used to install the basslink was an amp install kit, and an Adjustable line output converter, which I tapped into the Bose sub's wires, and then ran the RCA's from the line output converter to the basslink. There may by other ways to do it but I was told that this was the best way. Seems to work great so I can't argue.
