Air Con fault - 'Heating System Air Recirculation Unit'?
Hey all.
New to the forum here but not new to forums in general. I’m a mechanical & electrical engineer & a bike fanatic. I’m on several bike forums & am pretty handy with bike mechanicals. Have little real experience with car systems (save for basic servicing) & am only now beginning to realise that they are a lot more complex in operation than bike systems (especially with ancillary engine & active safety systems).
My Dad’s C200 Kompressor year 2001 with 100k miles has an Air Con issue specifically with the Heating System Air Recirculation Unit. It needs to be replaced & on the cheap if possible. He doesn’t have €600 to do the job! He tell ms that the A/C never worked properly since he got the car & its easy to see when if this unit is busted. Should I get the refrigerant gas level checked too?
Can some point me in the right direction & tell me when the Heating System Air Recirculation Unit is located? Is it a pretty straight forward job to swap it out for a working unit? I have access to a full garage with car ramp/lift & all the tools too.
Cheers for any & all help,
Ken

You are going to have to be more specific - "air recirculation unit" is not Benz speak for anything in the HVAC system - what do they mean? The fan & controller? If so that's easy it's under the glovebox.
On a car that old have the system regassed & checked for leaks.
Explain the problem properly & we will help
