Resonator Delete on C320
Resonator Delete on C320
I've had my eye on doing this for some time. Anyone with experience on the m112 320 engine specifically in the w203 application have any experience on this? Is the sound deeper or will it create a higher pitch sound? Any errors or anything i should watch out for in the future? Many have done this on their MB's, but i want to know specifically on the C320 and double check everything before getting it done this week.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
I have had this done. No errors. No crazy droning. It sounds nice. I would like to think that removing my resonator just added some volume to my aftermarket exhaust - I didn't get the impression that the exhaust note was deeper or higher in pitch, just a bit louder.
I highly suggest it

Hey guys,
Im a total noob when it comes to exhausts, resonators etc.
So to get that louder, meaner sound, what do I need to do to my coupe? I would also like to get dual tips. Will removing the resonator give me the sound Im going for? Also what else do I need to know about dual tips?

You can get the dual tips off ebay. They range in many styles, but since our stock tips face down, the ones off ebay bend up so they face straight out the stock bumper without any mods. They look better than nothing, and really brings some added attention to the back imo.
To get that louder, deeper sound from the exhaust, the simplest, easiest, cheapest way to do so is by removing the resonator. Putting on the dual tips required very little work; just slip on the tips, adjust them to your liking and screw/tighten them on.

Im looking for something like this:

Is that possible on my coupe and what do I need to change/modify?
Also whats the approx cost for a resonator delete?
Thanks.
yes, that is possible, you would need one muffler with a pair of tips stretching out to the other side (a second muffler wouldn't fit b/c of the spare). Not to mention you would need a rear diffuser. This can range anywhere from $700 to $1200 depending on where you go. The resonator delete, as holycao mentioned, should be relatively cheap. They simply cut out your resonator and weld in a straight tube. Maybe around $50.
source: I have asked this question before.

Its possible to delete the resonator on the stock muffler. Thats the whole reason in making your stock exhaust louder. Ive asked around and many shops are doing it for $50 in my area.

Can you explain that statement....sorry m a total noob...what do the cats have to do with this?
Also whats the diff between the muffler and the resonator and why did you remove the muffler? Did you also remove the resonator?
UPDATE: So just got back from the garage and finished up with the res delete on the stock exhaust... WOW, What i difference.

Much deeper and throatier, louder sound. i noticed i got better mileage and improved throttle response too.
