Fog lights

So I have 8000k HIDs and yeah they are not the brightest output.

I want to get some bright fog lights, should I just go with the 6000K hids, Xenons and I have seen some LEDs ones?

Thanks

Do you want bright or bright and usable?

You could get 55W 6000K which will be bright but not much usable light. LED's are very directional and not good fog lights IMHO.

I would recommend getting 3000K or 4300K 35W HID's for your fogs. They wont be blindingly bright but the temperature is well within the usable light range. It will complement your 8000K headlights well by increasing visibility.

4300K HID's will give you the most light output. 5000-6000k will still output a very respectable ammount of light (about 85% of 4300k). This is all assuming 35w bulbs and ballasts.

3000k, 8000K+ HID's will have a larger drop-off in light output.

LED's just don't output enough light to come close to HID for these types of applications.

Also, the stock fog lights are aimed WAY down and no matter what bulb you get, won't really matter because it's pointed straight down.

If you want to improve your visibility significantly you should put 4300-6000k HIDs in your headlights and do away with those silly-blue 8000k ones. Headlights in that color range detract from the car and make it appear more rice and less nice. Oh look, I'm a poet and didn't know it.

Yeah I would prob next time get under 8000K. They are not really blue just a small tint, so I am just going to leave them.

So I went to install them today. (got from DDM) Tested and they worked fine so then I put the error code eliminator on and it did not turn on. So I removed it and put it back to normal and does not work . What the heck. So I get the other ballast out and plug it in normal and no dice.

So I am thinking the ballast is bad? Who knows...

Would they not turn on if that was the case? I have the error eliminators.

you try flipping the connector? Xenon=present does not affect the fog lights

That was my only other thought as well, if it wasn't the ballasts.

Flipped the connector and it works. Like how they look. I am getting a right fog error. I have error code eliminators. Going to give that a shot.

Oh man the drivers side is hell compared to the passenger putting the lights in.
