SPARKED!!!

Thought I'd share..........

Went to Midas today to get an LABOR estimate for spark plug install. I have the plugs.
They wanted $270.00 for install w/c I think is too much. 3.5 hrs of labor.

Anyway I found another mechanic who will do it for $130.

Anybody know the plug torque setting for 03 c240? Is this correct? 15-22 ft.lbs./20-30 Nm.

Why don't you do the install yourself, spark plugs really aren't that hard to do to be quite honest with you, even with coil packs (assume it has those).

There a DIY in the sticky of OEM and Aftermarket mods on how to do it on your M112 engine. Save yourself some cash.

THE C350
sorry about your father. make sure the mecanic doesnet over tighten the plugs. also make sure to get all 12 back so that you know he did his job. i wonder if the dealer actually did all 12 on my car i have heard the cylander 3 and 6 are a *****. (i asume that the cylanders at the back of the engine go 123 down the driverside and 456 down pasanger side. or does it alternate sides? either way the 2 closest to the firewall.)

Thanks all. Yes I got the old plugs back...I didnt even have to ask him for it. I left a note for him about the torque.
Actually the guy who did it is a Mobile mechanic. He goes to your home/business.

He is local and has 28 yrs experience foreign/Domestic. He worked on my car at home while I was at work...my wife was home of course. Total charge was $137. Better than midas' $270.

He also quoted me on the following:
Press axle bearing $48
Rear wheel bearing 1 side; $280
Steering column & overhaul: $384

Here is a pic of the old plug removed. Plugs had 74000 mi on it.

Replaced with BOSCH SUPER PLUS YTTRIUM
