Repainting Car
How is everyone doing? Everyone who contributed to my Turbo thread was absolutely correct. Swapping an engine is more easier than adding a turbo so I decided "Hey what the heck the car is fine with speed and why get myself into a pickle?" so I decided something ever more cooler
.I was looking at some Benz picks when I saw this:

This question might have been covered in the w203 thread but I did not see.
My question is what do you guys think of doing a w203 Matte Black? Also anyone know any drawbacks of this color (maintenance, etc)?
Thanks soo much,
Karo
personally i have seen a matt black (vinyl) infinity fx and it looked great, the only hard parts to deal with are the bits of chrome (door handles...)...
maintenance of vinyl shoulnd be a problem, after all changing the hoods vinyl for exemple wont cost a fortune....
finally be aware, a matt black car can look AWESOME or very very ugly & cheap... it all depends on the quality of the work

Great for drags, but if you ever plan taking a corner at a high speed. Its pretty much out of the question.
Also your mercedes is a CAN car. The 2js is a analog engine, so your oem cluster wouldn't work with the 2jz engine. So your fuel and speedo gauges wouldn't work, maybe the rpm gauge since some CAN cars still use analog signals for rpms.
You would need to retro in a analog cluster or add analog gauges.
To your original point, i agree with vinyle. No point in spending $5k on a paint job to lower the value of your car.

. Maybe when it's time for the 350 to retire. It'll be a good project car, strip it and just go all out.
For me, i'm past the point where to have rice aftermarket gauges and pods everywhere. I like to keep my interior stock.
BTW i love your picture Karo you must have split Vanilla coke on the glass. lol you still owe me pictures.

I think the matte black look is definitely an enthusiast's color and to the rest of the world it just looks really dirty when its just slightly dirty :x Definitely a ++ on uniqueness.

Forget vinyling a car the new trend is sticking pens on a car. I think i'm going to start a new trend and stick teddy bears on my car
