Only right rear tire worn

i have an 07 C230 with 18K miles and for some reason my right rear tire is worn and the other 3 are fine. The inside and outside sidewalls are not worn just the center of the tire where all the groves are gone. they are original tires when i purchased the car new. i drive normal and never burn out or anything like that. any suggestions why only 1 tire would be worn???? thanks

my brother had a similar problem and it turned out to be his sway bar.

could be your alignment and hope that it is. it's an easy/cheap fix, have it checked out.

thanks for the help. i approached the dealer with that question today and was told that its a common problem for that tire to be worn and the rest be ok. is that legit answer from them??? i am still covered under factory warranty, do you think this will apply to it???

you may be under warranty. the warranty is for 4 years, 50k miles. however, warranty does not apply to alignments.

that is not a legit answer from your dealership. if they did not check underneath the car for any damage, then get an alignment elsewhere.

sounds stupid, but have you checked that tire's pressure? an over-inflated tired could wear more in the center..it would have to be way off though. I would say the toe adjustment is out, but that usually is indicated on the outer edges of the tire.

I had the pressures on all tires at the recommended psi and would check them every 2 weeks or so. I guess I can call another MB dealership and hope they will take a look at it. The other dealer was just a phone conversation and they never saw the car. Just don't know what else to do

There tends to be more wear on the rear right (main drive wheel), but just the inside wearing sounds like an over-pressurizzed tire.

Just 2 thing could cause center wearing, as bdgdlo8 says over-pressurizzed or factory defective.

Well,... actually there are THREE things that can cause premature over-worn rear right tires (***see attachments image***)

But seriously,... I think its too much air in that rear right tire,... or maybe you're constantly carrying something really heavy in the trunk on right side.
