What's a quiet /comfortable tire for 18"
I have Kumho Ecsta's which were on the 18" rims I bought. I took them off for the winter and realized they were too loud and harsh ride.
Right now the tires are
F 225/35/18 --> Is this a weird size?
R 265/35/18 --> too much rub with passengers
I'm looking on tirerack and most of the 18" tires set are:
F 225/40/18
R 255/35/18
There's a lot of choice in the category of 'max performance summer' or 'ultra high perfomance all season'. Which one of these categories would provide more comfort/ less road noise?
I'm thinking of these for price/ reviews
Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 (Max Performance Summer)
Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport (Ultra High Performance Summer)

I don't really think its a weird size, What I do know is that a 225/35/18 cost more $$$$ then a 225/40/18. 35's will be a much harsher ride then then with a 40........with that size tire I would go with 225/40/18 front 265/40/18 rear.
I think you would be happier with the results!

Hmm... Not too expensive, not too loud, and not too harsh.
Try out the Hankook Ventous or the Falken Ziex ZE-912. Those tend to be the most recommended to me by my tire guys.

Maybe not too expensive..............but, $40.00 is $40.00!
35's will be more of a harsher ride then 40's.........you feel allot more of the road.
Try out the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2........Great Tire!!!

I'm planning to get F225/40/18 & R255/35/18.. BTW what the middle number stand for? I noticed it's 40 for the front and 35 for the rear. Or should I get 40's for both F&R??
Also considering these that had good reviews and not so expensive

edit: 265/40 might be too big for the rear and create clearance issues.

Thanks for the reply. I meant weird in the sense that it seemed uncommon. I didn't see it on tirerack as a set.

From experience, 225/35's run quite a bit more than 225/40 (as some others have mentioned) and, comparatively, are an "oddball" size. The ride is also notably harsher with 225/35 than 225/40, etc. Just an FYI in case you haven't compared or considered alternatives!
