My issue solved....NOT the EIS (in my case)
Sorry for the delayed reply, I'm learning this forum and posting/replying "how to's".
I had it towed to an indy Benz repair shop that was highly recommended and for good reason. They called me the following day and told me my car was fixed and ready for pickup. I was expecting an $800-$1500 repair quote. My bill was about $150. Somehow I had shorted a circuit in my SAMS module driver's side under hood. They fixed it and made me a happy camper. Not a single issue since.

Mr
Hey everyone,
As the title says, my car won't start. When I put the smartkey in the ignition nothing happens, no beeps like usual or the dashboard lights going up. The remote lock/unlock and trunk pop don't make a noise either anymore, the car is just plain dead. It was working 100% fine just a few weeks ago before I put it into storage.
Did a fuse pop? Is some security lock active on the car? What gives? Neither of my keys work. Car doesn't respond to anything, and I can't turn the smartkey since there doesnt seem to be power.
It's not the battery since I charged it full today. It was a new battery bought in February.

02 C320 wagon is suddenly dead. The car was parked for 5 days outside in the rain. I walked past the car tonight and noticed the MFD in the cluster was lit up with nobody inside the car. Outside temp was reading 185F!!! Thats odd. Got in the car cranked starter and drove it around the block. All the warning lights in the dash were on along with warning message after warning message about low brake fluid, low fuel, ESP, ABS failure etc. The speedometer, tach and fuel gauge were dead as I was driving. Pulled back in the driveway, shut it off and the instrument cluster was still lit up. Ok thats odd, pulled to check the #42 instrument cluster fuse. As soon as I pulled it, cluster shut off. Fuse was fine so I put it back in, instrument cluster did NOT light up again. Tried to crank it again, nothing. The lights, power door locks, climate control radio etc all working. Plugged in my Icarsoft scan tool, No communication possible with the instrument cluster or steering column module. Checked all the fuses under the hood and in the side of the dash, all fine. I'm kind of stumped. I'm guessing water from the recent rain must've gotten into the front SAM somehow but the SAM compartment is dry. I would appreciate any other ideas.

UPDATE
This afternoon, I checked battery voltage again, 12.34v. On a whim I decided to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect it. Turned the key and the car fired right now. Everything in the instrument cluster was working normally but I was getting SRS and ESP fault warnings. Went into the Icarsoft again and there were about 10 codes in each. Cleared the codes and took it for a drive. Everything was back to normal as if nothing had ever happened. I don't think it was the rain but the 5 days of sitting without starting the engine. This car has sat through plenty of rain but 5 days without moving is kind of rare. When I'm out of town I put it on a charger. Even tho it has enough juice in the battery to start the engine, the computers in the car still freak out. So for future reference when you encounter a problem like this, disconnect the battery for a few minutes.

I’d suggest a new battery.
based on my 12.48v experience and the information I compiled here;

Glad it’s not a soaked SAM. 👍😁

do the lights in the cluster (odometer) light up to say what the mileage is?, well yes my radioo andoidometre goes with the inside lights also work , but it will not show any lights on dash board eg: engine light and fuel light .....
or do the dome lights come on? yes they do come on
Also, when you press the lock/unlock buttons on the key, does the small red LED light flash?

Hi. A late response to this post but may help someone in future. I had a similar situation, doors unlock , boot can open but no dash lights and the car would not start. I removed the Negative Terminal on the battery for about 20 seconds and replaced it. I figured it might reset the ECU. I left the car for about 60 min and when I tried again the car started.

I have this exact issue
I have a 2009 ml350 and only the odometer turns on nothing else. This was after I was jumping the car and accidentally touch the negative and positive together on the other end. Made a little spark. Checked fuses. Nothing works but power seats indoor lights and odometer screen

My car switches of whilst driving for about 500 meters
my 2001 Merc 320 V6 also stopped working, refusing to also start, sent the computer box, cluster unit and keys for reprogramming. I had the car towed to the electrician's yard, he reconnected everything and now when I drove it for about 200meters it switched off and key is stuck in the ignition, it's not releasing the key.

2018 GLE 43 AMG totally locked up
just to answer one of the moderators - no dome light or dash lights when I open the door. The small red light on the FOB does light up attempting to start the vehicle. I have had the charger hooked up for more than 24 hours now. Still no dome light when I open the door. My vehicle is in the garage - don’t know how they will get it out - shifter won’t work - nothing does
