Aftermarket or Stock ?

So i went to the dealer today to check how much it would be to replace my cd changer my c230k.

They want 800 dollar but if i give them my old one they drop the price down to 400.

So after i went to one of the audio shops in my town and they want 600 for the same cd changer.

So i dont know whether to get a brand new aftermarket head unit or just get the cd changer.

I think an aftermarket head unit would look weird in the dashboard of a mb.

What do you guys think ? Go with the aftermarket or keep the stock one.

Go stock. Aftermarket looks like crap in our cars.

I would go with an aftermarket head unit. I really don't think it looks bad at all. It actually looks pretty good imo. for that same price(or a little more) your paying for a cd changer, you can get a double din headunit that plays cd/dvd, has navigation, bluetooth, play movies/mp3's through a hard drive/flash drive/ipod, plus with external units play satellite radio, tv, reverse camera etc. I don't know if you want those choices or not, but its just a no brainer to me...

^^ yeah for $800 you can get a whole lot more than a cd changer

only concern would be fitment... anyone know off-hand of double din models that fit and plug into our cars (i know there'd be some sort of issue with the fiber optic wiring for the cd changer..., although i'm not informed on this topic)

i'd be wary about that, considering the amount of CD changers that go bad and give the NO CD MAGAZINE or NO CD CHANGER error, odds are plenty of those up on ebay have that problem... i considered doing it with mine until it magically started working again (i flipped it upside down and slid it back in, voila!)
