some of you recall that i wanted to make my 230 faster. but as it is the base model, neither kleemen nor rentech support anything useful. besides an exhaust system and an ecu flash, nothing in the market for me.

so what you guys think? can it be done with this engine? would i need anything else? ive never done anything close to an engine swap so all info is appreciated

so not worth it, The C55 have gone down in price. I am seeing them for what I paid for my car over a year and a half ago.

yea not worth it and probably way too much custom work. i believe the c55 uses a clk front end to compensate for the larger engine. correct me if i'm wrong, im not really too sure.

lol figured, btw clk is freaking fugly. ya, probably trading for a c55 would be the best solution. thanks for the opinions everyone

I saw a silver c55 down here for $24,000 with less than 60,000 miles. I had my c230 already. oh well.

get the 07 CLK550 Engine if you gonna do the swap.. buy a CRASH hit from the rear CLK550 :-)
5.5L 382 hp V8 CLK550
5.4L 362 hp V8 C55

rear end a c55 at about 200+ mph and that would mold the two cars together and give you a c55 front end. lol jk

if your willing to make a hosrt drive to SoCal, there are at least 6 C55's for 18-25000.

The money you'd spend on the engine, transmission, and completely redoing the front end wouldnt be worth it.

I would look into doing a C32 engine swap though

ya, power is my number 1 concern, but 1b) would be the body. ive seen some clean c55's with like 40k for 23k. also im probably making a drive out there next wednesday

Granted I live in WV (hour south of Pittsburgh, PA) and I see a C55 or two around here with sometimes less than 40K miles, 05-06ish, for low 20's. Granted, that may be because they just don't sell well around this region...

Unfortunately, like everyone has said...not too practical.

This is a cool website though. I've considered dropping a C32 engine/tranny into my C320 wagon if I could find a totaled C32, but now I don't have to. And, the prices on a C32 engine/tranny seem very reasonable. In my case, I think it would basically drop in, much less work than yours.
