Just installed: Renntech exhaust and sound pipe on my C320
to sathinas, people sometimes buy things just for the shear pleasure of it...simple as that. Now i am an engineering student and i could do all the calculations for optimal flow rate and run simulations, but its just not necessary. If i'm not getting paid for it or i'm not building a full fledged race car why bother with the extra work for minimal savings(if any)?
The muffler is a little close to the bumper. I'm gong to have to have it trimmed next week. Photos and process will be documented by the shop. Info coming soon.
The CF airbox alone is 1500... Plus my old one as a core.

Oh! And I had my bumper trimmed today too. I was debating on just re-hanging the exhaust or trimming the bumper to accommodate the larger tips of the Renntech Sports Muffler because the right tip was touching the bumper and would result in melting.
(cue shameless plug)

After talking to a few people, I opted on having it trimmed. My buddy Mike @ iDesigns (id-350.com) did me a favor. He actually came to my office, picked up the car, did the work, and delivered it back to me b4 the end of the day. He did an amazing job. Some places will trim your bumper in such a bad way that you end up w/ spider cracks, fractures in paint, or melted scores in the bumper. Mike actually removed the bumper, cut it, prepped it, and re-shot it with 960 (Alabaster white) to hide the cuts. He even did an awesome job keeping the original arch in the cut and not FUBAR-ing it like I've seen other places do. There is no longer a rattle from the bumper hitting the muffler tip and no smell of warm/melting bumper.

Yah kinda agree. But I don't know if the muffler will sit too high after being raised a few inches to tuck it in (piping/hangers, etc). I'm also way scared of cutting too much and not being able to go back. I also settled w/ this cut so I could go back to stock if I ever wanted to.
I hate the fact that this exhaust was designed for the M112 C320 but the NON sport bumper. My C320 sport is kicking me and making it hard to find stuff that I can do. lol.
I found myself sitting in traffic yesterday and was envious of this dark grey M5 because his exahust fit better. But then I drove next to a guy in a white C230 and he looked at my car with this look of confusion. He kept speeding up and slowing down to compare cars. That made me feel better.

It wouldn't surprise me if the upper corners of the cutout either melt or start warping; they're too close to the tips.

Bottom line:
To make a true oem look, one would need to fill in the gap and re-cut it.
I also don't think that a rectangular cut would look "OE" on this type of bumper either.
