My GF gets mad I don't want her driving my car, but if it was get totaled
that's likely all the insurance company would pay,
mods totaling about 10 grand be damned, and i'd be
at square one with someone else s, not so well maintained vehicle.
Real close to 155K now....

The dealer offered like 4,500 for my coupe a couple of years ago. It surely wasn't going to offset the cost on a custom cls63 amg... So I said forget it and drove the coupe as a beater till it died this year.

I was thinking about insurance the other day . almost any damage to my car would total it. it has about 146k on it and is in perfect shape i could not buy one that is as nice as mine with that many miles that also runs perfect. have to drive my car much nicer know don't want to hurt it.

I am also a bit concerned every day on I-285, or when I see the idiot behind me on the cell phone. I figure their screw up would be enough to total it and I really like driving my little coupe.
I am trying to prevent this by having some parts on hand for future projects. I believe that if I ever get it "just the way I want it" someone will come along and hit it, but as long as I have something else in mind it will be safe.

I was offered 10k "on paper" as a tradein on a new Honda Civic. I think that in reality the offer was closer to 6k. This was more than a year ago. As the coupes get older, it's pretty difficult to find a replacement. There really aren't any cars that offer that mix of refinement and sportiness. Yeah, back when the coupe was still being sold, there was the RSX, although that wasn't rwd. Are there and rwd hatches out now? Too bad BMW didn't bring over the 1-series hatch.
Also, your Lexus is beige.

Yeah, I agree but that was a long time ago. I was having a lot of problems with the car, but it's all good now. Plus back then (it was actually more like 1.5 years ago), the m272 reliability was not known. Further I didn't want an m271 or a c320 coupe. Funny thing is that when I brought my car in to be checked out, another customer was trading their SLK for a Civic.

It would be sad if you exchange a Benz for a Civic... I tell you to keep it until you can get a newer one.. It doesnt have to be brand new, just newer.
At least he is happy about not having to deal with insurance and maintenance fees
