AMG suspension

Hi everyone I have a 2002 c240 and I am thinking about getting the AMG suspension. I have been reading and people have been saying it improves performance and lowers the car (which is good!), but does it even out the really annoying gap in the front wheel arch (it's much bigger than the back)? Does anyone have any recommendations on springs that do this? Thanks

H&R Springs will take away the gap. Coil-overs would be the best but depends on your budget.

I will keep an eye out for your car

H&R springs lower it more than I think I want to. Im not sure I want that look, but coil-overs are a good idea. every time I read about springs people say "just get coil-overs". I can afford them, but i am worried about the installation price... it might be too much.

BTW that red color is SICK!

H&R drop isn't to drastic. I just got into an accident today and might be selling mine soon if my car is totalled. i can get some pics if you want to see how the drop looks

well the gap in the back ends up being smaller in the front but thats because the way mercedes designed the rear fender. Im gonna try to snap some pics right now and post it. I actually like the drop on it. its not so low that your swerving every speed bump but low enough to feel the improved handling.

I'll probably kick myself down the road for letting these go, but I've had some '06 c230 springs sitting in my garage for a couple years now. They won't lower as much as the H&R's (which I have on my car presently), but they will get rid of the large gaps you have now. Let me know if you're interested...

BTW, here's my car w/the H&R's, which I believe are ~1 finger lower than the MB sport springs (my car sits ~1" higher in the rear than the front - I changed out rear pads above the spring to achieve the correct posture, and use the line between the bottom of the door sill and the rocker panel for reference.):

Between the H&R springs (and sways) and Bilstein sport shocks, it's about as stiff I'd really go for a street suspension where you still need to drive family and other people around. YMMV.

that looks pretty good. I think i'll change out my rear pads too to even it out. I was considering cutting a small portion off the front springs to make it even but changing the pad will be much easier.

Did you just put on the lowering springs, then raise up the back by changing the pads to even it out? That looks great BTW ... I think that I am going to do the same thing. unfortunately I will have to wait until after winter-I don't want to be a snowplow

2001 C-240
my 2 cents: I have an '01 C240. At one point I had koni sports with H&R springs (with #4 pads in back) and C32 sway bars. the front end was about 1.5" lower than stock and looked good, but I got uneven tire wear on the inside of the front tires and the back would bottom out occasionally when I was going faster than I should through a dip in the road. With the H&R springs, I thought the rear was too low - the car did not have the raked look of the 2004.5+ sport models. Now I have springs, struts, shocks and sway bars from a C32. You can probably get all that for less than new H&R springs alone. The car sits very close to stock height (big gap up front) but no more premature tire wear and the ride is awesome. It it much more comfortable and handles much better than the H&R/koni setup. There is a reason Mercedes spec'd the C32 the way they did. At this point, I'll take the bigger gap up front in exchange for great handling and longer tire life.

With the C32 springs and #4 pad, the rear height is nearly identical to my ex's C230 sport. The front of my car with the C32 springs is about 1.5" higher than the C230 sport.

the weight is about the same when you add the weight of the heat exchanger, intercooler and other sc accessories.

I recommend u get TEIN S-TEch springs and the RennTech struts and shocks

Great combo, great drop (1.5 fingers all sides), great ride. Normal tire wear.

Cost me a total of $715 installed

Breakdown
TEIN - $180
RennTech Struts/shocks - $335
Installation - $200

the only issue with that is the C32 springs for the US cars are higher than their European counter part, so you are not truly getting the right handling of the C32 suspension.

Yep, this is with the H&R springs/#4 pads in the rear (had #2 pads in the rear stock). As I mentioned earlier, I also have the Bilstein sport shocks and H&R sways. I've had no problems at all with uneven tire wear. Ride is a bit on the stiff side (which I like) and it handles very well.

On ebay Renntech-Mercedes has the Renntech sport shock/strut kit for dirt cheap, $499. It has been discontinued so they are leftovers but brand new. I got them, plus I also bought C32 springs, hoping to get them installed soon. Not so sure the springs are any different though.

The c32 springs are way too high on the front for the bumper height regulation. You might want to look at how stock US spec rise height looks before you install them
