Power mirror not moving fully - needs lubrication?

I rarely move the power mirrors on my car at all - I set them once and leave them. Washed the car yesterday and must have moved the passenger mirror as I noticed today that it was wonky. When I went to adjust it, I could only get a very small range of motion - not enough to get the mirror right. I tried to move the mirror by hand and could get the full range of motion, but it did feel quite stiff. I'm thinking things have seized up over time due to lack of use. Are there any parts inside the mirror that I can lube to free things up? If yes, how do I get at them? Any other possibilities?

Search for threads on replacing mirror blinkers with new clear ones. That will tell you how to push the mirror back against it's spring & release the clip that holds the cover on. Quite easy once you know how & apply some brute strength to that powerful spring.

Once the cover is off you can lubricate the mechanism & clip the cover back on again.

Then do reset as Tru explains here

THANKS Glyn! Your help is much appreciated. I got it all fixed already!

Those were some excellent instructions on how to disassemble the mirror. Had it apart in a minute, and discovered that the ball/socket arrangement was full of dirt, which was what was preventing things from moving properly. Cleaned that up and got the full range of motion back.

Also discovered that one of the connector pins on the turn signal light was turning green and corroding. Cleaned and greased that, hopefully avoiding unwelcome future issues there.
