Really I dont think it will be totalled. If is is fine. There is no internal damage from what i can see except a tie rod. The hood is fine as is the light. SO it should be just the fender, bumper, tie rod and a new tire. Hopefully

The most important part is your wife is OK. The damn car is replaceable, human life isn't.

Good luck with whatever happens to the car e24kgold.

Maybe it is just the angle of the photo, but it looks like the LF wheel rim is also damaged. If so, check the suspension for additional damage.

Your car might be totalled if they find any damages underneath. My body shop says my damages are going to be around 5,000 dollars to repair and it doesnt look as bad as yours, but i do have damage underneath.

Well, its not totaled. Repair cost $6756.82. The body shop thought I had bi-x and wrote the quote for that but the adjuster caught it, that *******! The quote was 3k higher with the bi-x. Should have it back in 7 days

Good thing your wife is ok, but the car doesn't look hit that bad..

My car was hit just like that before and I had it fixed with about $2.5k?

Too bad he caught the Bi-x thing, otherwise, you woulda' had some $$$$$

I wonder if that'll be the end of it or if hidden damage will exist? Post up pics when you get it back. Hopefully you'll have many more years and miles out of it.

That quote is just for the stuff they can see right off. It will increase I'm sure as they really tear into things. My insurance co. says the repair bill can go alot higher before they think about writing it off.

Really? That's surprising. I wonder how much higher? I thought the value of these cars was pretty low at this point.

You know I love you..I was only kidding on the "shut up"

I got a quote from the dealer to change the engine mount (part included) 750 dollars
Part costs 97 bucks online..I guess i'm going to have to change it myself. Just the space is tight.

You said $1500 in parts. I assumed a worth of no more than $10,000 and as such the car would be totaled(the damage estimate will go up). Apparently the insurance company values it at much more. Maybe he told them it was a C350 6MT?

$8,104 eh.. so much for Nick being adamant it was about $1500-2000. Glad it is back in perfect working order - I guess now you'll do the transmission service? My stuff for mine just arrived today.

I am surprised that they didn't total it with that much in repair since the car doesn't worth much more than $12000, but as long as it is fixed you'll still have a good car to go around in and most importantly since it was a repairable damage the value of the car should not take that much of a hit when you decide to part way with it.

back in 2001 I did a whopping $32k in repair to my then 1yr old E46 328Ci that was a $44k car. It had just came back from being rear ended on the freeway as well (only had to replace the rear bumper because I let off the brake when I knew the guy was going to hit me) The insurance gave me $42k in return. car vs 6" curb FTL = the curb won. And yes, I was one of those that contributed to the high insurance cost for the 3-series.

Frank, I'm surprised to. I am almost certain that if I did $8,100 in damage to my 05 C230 with 86,700 miles that my insurance would call it totaled. That's why I suggested that to begin with. But now it's fixed properly and will hopefully give him many more good years!

i was shocked too. At first it was 6k then I showed up at the shop and there was 3k in supplments. Ill post a copy of the bill later today. It would have been fine if they totaled it, I just think the car is suited perfectly for what we use it for. Plus I want to see how many miles I can put on it.
Yea I guess Ill do the tranny soon, any Ideas as to the cost?
