Accident
Yesterday my wife is making a left turn and some lady in a toyota solara tries to beat her to the corner by using the shoulder and smokes the front. What are people thinking?

Argh! Makes you sick!. Hope she is OK. Looks like a bolt off, bolt on fix as long as no hidden damage. In SA, however, that little lot would cost a bundle to fix.
Good luck!

I didnt have a chance to look at it, I'm sure internal damage is limited, maybe just suspension and steering.

where in va do you live i think i asked you before but can't remember. Was the Toyota driver from Maryland in my area they always seem to be the ones driving crazy. We still need to get a meet together once your car is fixed and my car has its new suspension installed. Glad everyone is alright good excuse to get some bixs though.

Damn, that sucks!!! Hope your wife is OK. I agree with Glyn, it does look like bolt off bolt on. You can get projectors new for 300 (100 bucks more than what members are selling used clear headlights) out the door. If you need any diagrams and documents (how to remove fender, how to remove bumper, etc) let me know. Looks like you can easily repair it yourself. Good luck and again hope your wife is OK.

There's a guy on here who had a 2006 C230 totalled with less damage than that. Given your car has 131k miles or more.. It might be the end.
Sad because your car is my car's twin and your experience mirrors mine. A VW Jetta nearly took my C230 out recently. It's crazy out there.

a new bumper a headlight and a fender, will not total a car valued at over 13 grand, who ever got thiers totaled must have had far more extensive damage or the ins company raped them.
If that cars totaled Ill BUY you a new car, its how confident I am its not.
Thats a pretty light hit, it just looks worse because the bumpers dislodged on the whole front. They will fix it up good as new, thats pretty easy cosmetic stuff! Good luck

Since your insurance will pay..make sure it's dealer repaired to get merc genuine parts.
Some people just don't think...they're all in a hurry to go nowhere.

Repairs on these cars are expensive. If you don't want it to be totalled, e24kgold, then I hope it isn't. If it were my car, though, I'd want it gone.

I am by no means an expert, but I would venture there is more hidden damage in the picture Matt posted. It looks like there was much deeper intrusion behind the grill, and that could seriously impact the repair. Especially if the hood latch, etc got pushed back into the condenser/radiator and such or if the core support was bent. No telling from the pictures, but it looks like the impact pushed back in on this one, and the impact on the OP's pictures raked parts forward. Hopefully that reduced the damage for you.

To say it's worth 13000 is a stretch. The car at hand has 131000 miles. The resale on these cars sucks.

like MW ATL said, thats a totally different, accident (much deeper), that needs a hood, hinges, radiator, rad support, 2 new headlights, fenders and a bumper cover and bumper and maybe even airbags and a windshield which are mega bux, E24 does not need that extensive amount of parts, and I still find it hard to fathom that even with 131k his 2k5 will be totaled, MB are expensive but a fender is a fender and a bumper is a bumper id say its maybe 1500 in parts at most and then just labor, a bumper and fender and headlamp are not made out or boron or platinum just because its an MB doesnt mean it cost Mega bux to repair, may be more like 350 for a fender but its not a CLK black or a Bugattii where I could see due to rarity and materials that the cost would be excessive
However, you're talking out of your ***... Did you stay at a Holiday Inn last night or something? I hit a medium-sized dog with my 2005 C230 and it was $1,800 worth of cosmetic damage only, not even an alignment was necessary. The damage was BARELY visible. It required a new bumper cover, some new grille mesh, a new fender liner and some clips - plus paint and labor - no new hood, no new lights, no new fender were needed. The repair was perfect. I have the invoice of the repair to prove it. All OEM parts were used at my demand, and State Farm picked the repair facility so I'm quite sure they didn't get ripped.
The idea that this accident will be $1500 in OEM parts is nothing short of absurd. The bumper cover alone OEM was over $900 according to my invoice.
I hope this all works out for you, e24kgold.

basically, the 07 "amg" fender cost 800 and front bumper is in the 600 or so range. the oem clear headlights cost 1800, and a bunch of other little things that are overpriced. i do agree this is no where near 2k.

^ Hard to say.
Last year, someone backed into me while I was parked. 2 lines (missing paint) on the bumper, cracked grille, dime-sized dent in hood. They banged out the dent, bought a new grille, and repainted/refinished the bumper and hood. That was $2400CAD![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Sure I'm not in USA (Canada costs about 30% more for everything), but MBs are not cheap to fix at all.
If the suspension is damaged, the price is going to go up real fast. Good luck.
