My engine broke down - New one
Hi, this is my first post to the forum though i have read alot
I have a c230 v6 272 - built 2005 but wasn't bought until late 2006
it became a lemon law car because of some small faults, than resold to me in November 2007. now the car has been moved abroad - away from the united states to where i live.
The engine has always been a bit loud - ticks like a diesel motor. the Benz dealer ship said "they tend to do that" witch i believed until the resonator jammed up and the car started loosing power, when i had them removed we saw for the first time that the engine is blowing blue smoke - burning oil.
a friend of mine a former mbenz mechanic for many years took the motor apart and found it to be COMPLETELY ruind.
now i have to buy a new motor, its of course best to buy the exact same motor v6 2,5 272
here is my question to you Braniacs.
Is there a alternative engine that is easy to install ?
WHERE can i find the original engine used - with not much more than 30k on it.
thanks alot!

Hey, it would depend on where you are. You say you're not in the states, so besides saying generically, "the salvage yards" I've got no clue.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_M272_engine
As you can see, the same engine was used on the CLC230 and E230. Do you have the 7G auto transmission? I believe the other M272 series engines should bolt on. Don't the m271 and m112 have the same mounts too? Probably your best bet is to stick to whatever m272 type engine you can get cheaply.
We have a regular here, Glyn, he knows his ****. I'm sure he can help you.

I strongly recommend sticking to a 2.5 litre M272 Engine. Then the swap is easy.

Where are you? In the USA you will have no problem getting a low mileage engine from a wreckers yard - Might even get a short warranty.

I live in Iceland - the miles between our country's makes it impossible for me to go and visit some Wreck yard.
i'll have to find it online - and ship it home
so my question is, where can i find engines online. low mileage

Guys - BUMP - we need your local help for some online places for used engines in the USA or Europe.
Since I have been on the board there have been a number of engine replacements & insurance companies & private individuals never have trouble finding them.

Its an M272 so swap in anther m272. If you can't find the 2.5 try the 3l or 3.5l. You should have no problem sourcing a 3.5l m272 from a mercedes suv (there are many with that engine).
Then just get an ECu tune for the engine of your choice and it should be very nice

thanks alot!
The Chrysler engine harness cables and etc. are not the same as for the benz right ? i doubt it,
Okay, get a bigger engine - the equal size engine - smaller engine
telling me this does not help me alot, because i cant seem to find any engine.
the problem is, still, that i cant find any. do you guys know of any engines for sale ?
does the c32 -(Chrysler) engine fit the 7-gang transmission, and does the transmission hold the power?
do a c32 swap.

The OP is in Iceland. Modifications complicate the issue drastically. It must be another M272 engine then all the electronics speak & you have no problems with the TCU etc.
The OP needs some online connections for used engines in the USA which I can't give him. So let's come up with some examples. Likely cheaper from the US
I have an example but it's in Europe. I suggest that the OP contacts our sponsor MBenzNL in the Netherlands. Contact Steve and ask him if he can source you an engine from Holland.

my best advise is to go on www.car-parts.com and drop in your request, since this is the national(US) salvage yard business web site you might get good quotes, but the thing is so many international scams and all I am not sure how many would be willing to do business overseas..........but atleast give it a try and if you have paypal then they might bite...........good luck.

I went from Iceland to Germany - France - Spain last week. i searched for a engine and the result was quite astonishing, a new engine is about 40 thousand dollars ..... yes i said it. 40.000$
a used engine is about 16.000$ dollars in Europe.
I've been seeing m.benz engines go for 3-5k. in the US.
Shocking isn't it ?
I'll keep searching in the US even if i have to go there by my self to find it!
