Why does MB still make cassette players?!?

OK, here's a post supporting cassette players from a geezer. . .
When travelling for 11 hours with the kids, you need every entertainment tool imaginable to keep them occupied. When "I Spy", "Cow Bingo", and all of the other games you can play run out, sometimes it is necessary to play the kid's tapes of Thomas the Tank Engine stories, or even (gasp) Barney's sing-along.
Mock me if you like, but don't take away my cassette player!

Jeesh I dunno why they still make tapes either.. but I guess it's people's likings.. may as well have the CD for Stock rather than the tape player, they should make that optional.. hehe.. wasn't in mine. OH wells... I think i might use it sometime down the road.

The age arguement for why MB sells cars with cassette players makes no sense whatsoever, nor does the weathier, more educated arguement. Those wealthier, more educated people are more likely to be early adapters of new technology.
I am close the the MB median age. In my lifetime, I have purchased 10 times as many cd's as I have cassettes, about 300 to 30. My 70+ year old parents have a cd collection that makes mine look small.
Older, affluent, educated people not only have more disposable income for toys, but have more leisure time to play with them.
It is pathetic that MBUSA is selling cars without dual cd/cassette players. It couldn't cost more than a few dollars per car to make this standard equipment.

Why does MB bother to include a standard CD player in the E, S, SL, CL and G classes (more than 50% of it's US line)? Surely MB feels that the people who can afford the upper half of thier line can afford to add an optional CD player.

Smarter and more affluent people are more likely to care about sound quality (cassettes suck royally for that). They're also more likely to know how to burn CDs, so they can customize content to their heart's desires.

Cd changers are not standard equipment in the E class and are standard only the S600 for the S class according to the MBUSA website.

The following excerpt from the MBUSA site spec pages for the E shows what should be in all Mercedes cars:
AM/FM stereo/weatherband radio with scan/dual-sensitivity seek tuning, plus single-CD player and concealed autoreverse cassette player with music search. In-dash audio system operating panel integrates controls and displays for radio, cassette player, CD player, optional in-dash 6-CD changer and optional portable digital telephone.
