I mean, there are just too much things that are f**k up to be real.
1. no atf fluid in tranny
2. wrong fluid mixed in with oil.
Starting up the engine in that condition. They giving you the shrug.
Two most important component got screwed. This can't be real.

This is damn real, MBC, and it's sucks to be me right now. I'm 16 and all of this is coming out of my pocket. I was recommended to them because they were euro-car professional techs who charged less than MB.
My tranny is running smooth. I think they only did a drain and refill, not a complete flush. They added more tranny oil in.
I swear to you, 04mbc230, that I'm not with karo on this one. Guys, please help me through this, I am genuinely pleading.

Here's the thing! I was there with them the whole 3-4 hours watching them! All was fine until the tranny fluid incident. He was going to take it for a spin but it wouldn't engage and he just kept adding the fluid to the wrong tube. The manager finally came, corrected it, and called an oil change asap with his cheaper oil. I even recall the tech asking the manager which oil to use, and the manager had to think about it.
This doesn't get much worse!

But as for the Oil filter and oil, that is definitely a must do. Have them flush it to remove any possible ATF traces in the engine. I think the oil tube goes directly into the oil pan. The problem is they turned it on and had it running, so I am sure the ATF they poured in had gotten pumped up into the filter and is pretty much all over walls in the engine.
They should do this free. Also, heck, I don't know, since they messed this up, perhaps have them pay for the flatbed towing back to their shop. I mean why would you want to drive 5-7 miles more and get it messed up more.
Besides, they f**k this up, so they have to pay. Heck, I'll make them get you or give you a warranty on the engine or the transmission if they give you lip on this.

I think as long as it is for 722.6 5 speed At, then you should be fine.
Here's a thread about Automatic Transmission Fluid.

right now im using a synthetic tranny fluid made by BG. My mercedes indy shop swears by it and ever since i switched to it, my tranny has been running smoother. I think its MBZ approval 236.10 for 5 speed or 236.14 for 7 speed. Ive heard the 7 speed fluid helps smoothen out shifts for the 5 speed.
I am no expert in this and usually just stick to oem fluids to be on the safe side.

Thanks. The first link's bottle looked about right. I'll confirm with them. Please bear with me as I go and find the receipt. They did a partial flush and said that's how they do it in MB dealerships. Is this true? Do they not do a full flush?

Lane. Here's what I found on another thread.
Flüssigkeitsgetriebeöl clarification…
Specification; its MB part number:
236.10 = A 001 989 21 03 10
236.11 = A 001 989 22 03
236.12 = A 001 989 45 03 13
236.13 = A 001 989 23 03
236.14 = A 001 989 68 03
Note that MB’s initial 722.9 seven speed mandated ATF and “no scheduled maintenance” advisories have been revised since its release:
As much as it pains me to admit it, Glyn “petroleum man” Ruck is entirely correct to advise utilizing MB’s most recently approved fluids.

Lane the latest fluid for the 722.9 is Fuchs Titan 4134 and it is backwards compatible - fine to use in the 5AT. Glyn the oil man even tells people to use the most current fluids because it will always be the best. It needs to meet 236.14 approval.
The engine oil must be 229.5 approval. 229.51 is WRONG. That's for diesel cars.
The transmission in our cars is extremely sensitive to fluids and levels. It wouldn't be shifting very well if something was off. Nevertheless make sure you demand to know what fluid was put in, ask to see the bottle. 236.10 approval is fine but that's the older fluid.
As for the engine oil... they need to do a flush. Drain the oil, refill it completely, drive a little ways, drain again - refill with new filter. That's the only way to be sure. Mobil 1 0W-40 European Car Formula.
They did a transmission fluid change, not a flush. There is a difference. A flush is ideal but a change is certainly better than nothing and you'll probably be alright with that. Now if they put in the wrong fluid, you must have them flush it all and replace with the correct.
Sorry about your luck.

Things done:
Brake flush @ $63.75
Tranny flush @ $127.50
Radiator Flush @ $42.50 (I provided MB coolant)
Parts used: Tranny gasket ($6.80) p/n 1402710080
Brake Fluid ($11.05) p/n 000989090710
Tranny Filter ($18.70) p/n 1402770095
Tranny Fluid ($66.30 for four quarts...) p/n 0019894503
So it was only a drain! Did I pay for a full flush?!
Hopefully the tranny fluid is correct.

Yes it does look like the transmission fluid is the correct one. $40 for a four liter bottle on RMeuropean's website makes your $66 look like a ripoff. Is the $127 the total cost including fluid for the change? If so that's about what it should cost for just a change and not a flush.

Yes, that was the total. I did mention this: "I thought it was well over four quarts to flush a tranny?" "That's for new trannies. Also, we don't have the equiptment to do a full flush here, but what we did is what the dealership does."
We left it at that.
Three hours before I get over there and go all Chris Brown on these guys.

Oh Lane.. I don't think you could be as worthless as Chris Brown if you tried. I can't wait to hear the results of your follow-up though.

His mama. Traded y0 mama in because she was squeaking.
Running a little transmission oil through the motor never hurt anything. Transmission fluid has a lot of detergents in it and will help clean the engine. But the trick is to no run it in motor oil constantly.
Run it for 50 or so miles, then drop the oil, flush the engine and change the oil/filter.

OK, Lane and everyone else take a deep breath. This is not the end of the world. As Sathinas pointed out a little ATF in your engine is not that big of a deal. At 1st, I was on the same page as Glyn on how the hell they got AFT in the engine by overfilling, until mleskovar uncovered the mystery. Putting a quart or so of ATF in your engine is kind of an old school engine flush. The fact that they caught it after startup and not after you drove it hundreds of miles is the key.
So, here is what you need to do. Just take it back to them and have them redo the engine oil and filter change with the correct M1 0W-40.
