Service

I've been trying to find a cheaper solution from the stealership because i'm almost up for this. I have always spent most of my service through MB from A to B, brakes etc. but sometimes i really think they over charge a lot.

I found a reputable area here that'll charge me only 189 for service b, rather than paying MB almost 500. I'm just having second thoughts because i'm still under warranty. I am the type who would rather spend, and get it done correctly, rather than pay cheap and get problems moving forward. But if I can save money, better for me.

I know its just service, thoughts?

Thanks guys.

As long as they are using MB-OEM parts and proper fluids, I would lean towards the indy shop. The key is to make sure everything is done properly with the proper spec fluids. As long as this is done, it shouldn't affect your warranty either.

I agree that Dealer's Service is usually more costly than at a private Shop, but is equally important to keep in mind that you get only what you pay for. So consider first and foremost how honest, professional, prepared and experienced the mechanic is, how well informed and equipped he keeps up, how clean an orderly his shop is, and how they recommend him his current customers.

When you find this gold mine, don't let go. Also get into a program of conscious preventive maintenance: a repair you prevent is money in your pocket.

Good luck.

I do the oil changes myself so I wont have to go to the dealership for service A. I went to the dealership though for my service B and tranny service last month.

one thing to be very very clear about is the oil filter.......(1) make sure they use OEM filter, (2) make suer that they are carefull when removing the oil filter as if they are not they end up spilling oil on to the belt as this has happned before and then you will end up with the dealership getting the belt replaced........the bottom line is the mechanic should be knoweledgeable enough to work on german cars......they are different then the Japanese or american cars.........

Also you can find cheap parts on this website highly recomended by this W203 forum www.rmeuropean.com if using an indy shop try to get a labour only quote and then you supply the parts this will work out better for you too........

Goodluck.....
