identify this part (under rear seat, not Fuel Pump) on '07 C280 M272

Hi,

When I removed the rear seat on my '07 C280 (M272), I saw 3 metal openings under there. The middle one is for the parking brake mechanism, drivers side one is for the Fuel Pump. I don't understand what is under the passenger side opening. Here is the picture. It alsmost looks like the cap for Fuel Pump. However, no wires are going to or coming from that opening. So, it can't be the fuel pump. Is that opening for Auxilary Fuel Pump (is there such a thing)?

that is a transfer pump. Your car has a saddle bag tank. the passenger side transfers the gas from the passenger side to the drivers side.

It's the fuel level sensor unit in that side of the tank - no pump - pump is in the other unit & serves all functions

Thanks for the feedback guys.

If the fuel level sensor is in there, shouldn't there be some wires going in to that opening? The drivers side opening had 5 or 6 wires going in to the fuel pump opening; no wires going in to the passenger side opening.

Glyn_M_Ruck, in the picture you've posted, parts labeled 120 and 110 BOTH seem to have the fuel level float. Why would they need to put two floats?

Because tank has 2 separate chambers

There are wires to both sides & as ontmiss says there are two sender units. The one with the pump costs more obviously.
