Blurred out license plates??

This one has had me intrigued since I started to become familiar with car forums, etc.

Why do people blur out their plates in pictures?

I personally dont see the point, because thousands of people see my car every damn day with its shiny plates at the front and the back in all its glory...lol.

Anyone experience or heard of any bad stories because of unblurred license plates on the net? Lets hear em...

Time to put this question to rest once and for all...

I was about to say this was a dumb question.

But not to provoke anything: some people like privacy over the serious business that is the internet

Yeah Im all for privacy, but can you explain how displaying your license plate on the internet is somehow damaging your privacy, especially when plates are displayed constantly in real life, where the chances of identity theft and disregard for privacy is higher?

You are in your car, thereby allowing a direct link between your plate and yourself.

I was going to say youre just saying stuff coz everyone else does, without knowing any details/facts or without giving it any thought, but didnt want to provoke anything.

No harsh feelings bro'
Just felt it this question was one of those ::facepalm:: questions
I ask them too sometimes

If you didn't double post a second later, I would've quoted the other guys response and left it at that as well. Lol.

it's just their personal preference to blur their license plate.
Everybody is different. Not everything needs an explanation and research.

It doesn't have to make sense to each and everyone or anyone at all.
