did i mess up the panoroof?

curious about whether there was an anti-pinch feature on the panoroof, now that i can use the recirc button for a one-touch close, i put a small box in the panoroof.

hit the recirc. it sort of crushed the box, but the panoroof did stop and bounce back.

but now, the panoroof no longer opens mid-way when i do the first one-touch open. it opens maybe 4-5 inches. the full-open works fine.

what do you think happened?

i tried resynching (hmm... but not w/ the engine off) but it didn't help.

That is interesting (sort of). I would not know why after crushing a box it would open only about 4 or 5 inches, but my sunroof opens up also only about 3-5 inches (instead the usual 50%)since I had my dealer fix my sunroof....

i figured it out. this morning, i tried something...

i set the position of the panoroof to where i'd like it to be... held the recirc button (which closed it). and when i used the main switch again, it remembered where it was. so back to normal.

(this may be related to the memory setting that my technician turned on for me when he did the recirc close setting)

Interesting! But how did you get the recirc button to activate one-touch close for the pana-roof? I asked my dealer to set it up for me but they said there was no guarantee they could - it's not a supported feature. Why not just admit you don't know but promise you'll find out? Who's your dealer? I'll be right over...

The instructions to enable the roof to open and close in tunnel mode are in this thread.

Thanks, I read that. But Morristown Mercedes didn't. They prefer to play dumb. I'll have to check out Ray Catena, or Manhattan perhaps. So, Young - where did you have yours straightened out?
