How To Enable Tunnel Mode!!
Here are the instructions for the DAS computer that they have at the dealer:
Go to Control Units --> Body --> Overhead Control Panel(OCP) --> Control Unit Adaptations --> Read coding & change if necessary --> Modular Roof
On the modular roof screen, set "Automatic closing function" to "Active" and that should do it.
Good Luck.

sweet! nice job. now i have to think of a reason to visit the dealer to get this programmed...
But it's still a nice feature. I've never used it except to try it out, and I don't go through tunnels that often. But it works great just to close everything up when you are parking the car. Especially since there is no one-touch close for the roof. It doesn't matter as much anymore because this works like a one-touch close.

Does this enable the sunroof closing in tunnel mode on the C230 Coupe?
cliffybabe:
Tunnel mode is pushing and holding the recirculate button on your air conditioning unit and it will automatically close all windows and the sunroof -if you have one.
This was put into place as a convenient feature since the air in tunnels is usually stale or polluted from accumulating exhaust fumes. Once youre out of the tunnel, press and hold again and it will return your windows and sunroof right back to where they were before you went into tunnel mode.
TTFN!:p
Went to the dealership today, and $25.00 later, the roof now works.
....... but it's just too bad that dealers are charging people for this. I think it's something that should be checked before the car is sold and make sure it works first........
Kudos to Ray Catena in NJ.
Well I tried it and it worked, wicked trick
Cheers

I am glad i could be of help. I accept payment in GBP or Euros.

Now if this can be done, doesn't it follow to reason that the passenger mirror should be able to be enabled to "look down at the curb" when the car is placed in reverse (when the passenger mirror button is left in it's pressed position)?
I have to park in a very weirdly designed parking lot (all curves) and this would help save the rims if it could be activated in the coupe. I think this already works in the sedans and wagons (2003's), but not on the 2002's.
I'm getting more and more happy that I bought this car. I have a stack of papers that the dealer must address when the car is on the computer, but I don't mind...
MATT.... thanks for the info... all these little mods help me to enjoy my car that much more and miss my namesake a little less..... naw... I miss my SLK
Cheers!
Awesome! I'll have the dealer fix this.

In that case, reprogramming the computer should be considered warranty work.

btw, bob, the technician said there were 2 settings. the one as described above and a "memory" setting for the panoroof. he turned both on for me.

matt, w/out that on, you're panoroof reverts to whatever position that it was on? (not fully open).
i don't know what it's for if not that.
