Thinking of repainting car... suggestions?
I've had some damage to my car over the past few months and have kept from cleaning it to the point where its driving me crazy. It includes pretty bad hail damage, rear bumper stretched paint, rock chips, etc...
Since I'm getting so much painted, worked on... I figured I might get the whole car painted. This got me thinking that I could keep the color stock (capri blue), OR I could go with a new color (probably an actual MB color). This brings me to my question for all of you:
If you would repaint your car or suggest a new color for me, what would it be?
I drive a 2003 capri blue hatchback with a reasonable amount of mods (mostly internal). I'd post pics, but if they're going to be recent... they're going to be dirty
If I were changing to an MB color, I'd do Obsidian or Paprika - that's a very nice niche color. Or the yellow that's been on some first gen SLKs, or a designo color, espresso. Oooh - or something even more interesting, Amethyst (though Mike would hate the competition!)
Though I think that MB colors are pretty limiting in general, so if I were going to the trouble, I'd go somewhere more interesting. Like that throwup color from the last gen M3, ie,
or lemans blue. Blue Water Metallic is also a cool BMW color. But as I said, I'd keep it stock and just fix whatever panels you need to. Spend the money on something else, unless you have a paint hook-up, of course.
still haven't gotten any exactly quotes yet.
haha no way.. i'm going to a reputable body shop in my area

here is a nice one in obsidian:
paprika:
and of course the signature color from the original commercial:
Designo graphite does look nice, but unless you have a fetish for it.. I'd say white or red would be great choices..
If you're looking for quality repaint.. it may not even be worth it all together unless you're getting a fat discount, or insurance is paying for it.

it may not be cost effective, but i just like to ponder the idea.
i agree with everyone that keeping stock color is most practical... but with dark colors i can't see the contrast of the black glass roof which has such a great two tone look on lighter colors (like mars red). so i'm just contemplating the thought of changing the color for fun.
if a non-MB color... what would you pick?

Also, not sure what the process is to change the color of a car on government/registration documents...but Im sure its complicated.
And then there is always the problem of a door chip that just gets the top layer of paint and exposes your original color. If I were you I think I would go back to the original color.
