Apparently all that was wrong was that the shifter cable had come off. Glad I didn't end up taking it to the dealership or else I would have been out a couple hundred. My trusty friend/technician literally saved me. I had gotten a couple of different estimates on what it could have been. 2 screws kept me off the road for 6 months.
