In the pic thread someone has the CF spoiler a few pages back on Mars Red. I plan to do the same.

They still claim the 07 spoiler won't fit the sport model 06. I'm going there tomorrow to take a look at the aftermarket spoiler they got for me. I have no idea what it looks like or who they got it from. I will need to see the books and pics of what they are looking at to tell me there is a difference. I can't believe everyone here tells me the truck is the same and dealer sees something else. Tomorrow can't get here soon enough for me!!! Kep your comments and info coming. I need all the ammo I can get to prove them wrong.

it doesn't need to keep coming. they're all the same. end of story. there is no if and or but.

+1 Frank, but....just to give him some extra ammo. (After all, it never hurts to have extra!):

Maybe they can point out something that we are wrong about... I would really like to pull the part number they are claiming is a different trunk lid. The "Luxury" model simply had the same trunk lid without the spoiler attached, but it was not sold in the US after 2005 I think (someone will probably pop on with the exact date). Regardless, all of the US '06 and '07 W203 chassis sedans were "Sport" models.

If you have a desire to play with the EPC yourself, it is at http://epc.startekinfo.com . Click "subscribe" and it will walk you through the subscription. It makes you put in a valid credit card number, but does not charge you anything. It gives you a year "subscription" to the EPC (and you can 'renew' for free). It is a Java app that works pretty well. Exactly the same thing the dealer system is using, they can just export the part numbers into their inventory and pricing systems, etc.

On the startekinfo site itself you can also pay to get to view WIS information and such, but that does cost. It takes a little getting used to, but you can search by model (i.e. your C230 is a 203.052, my C230 Coupe is a 203.747, etc), but you can also input your VIN. If you do this you will see *just* the parts that are valid for your car. If you use the model designator, you will see *all* the parts that could go on that model. Of course, this can also be used to expand your wish list....

Below are ALL the valid trunk lids for the 203 sedan body that I could find. Have fun and let us know how it turns out.
_________________________

Trunk Lid A2037500175
Replaced by A2037500475
(There is a date code for this....through 06/30/2003, but insignificant for 2006 to 2007)

Trunk Lid A2037500475
Replaced by A2037500675 (and needs the additional + parts listed below)
+002 A2037500097 (Buffer to Trunk Lid Top Side)
+001 A2036932333 (Right Cover in luggage compartment)
+001 A2036932433 (Left Cover in the luggage compartment)
+002 A0009910198 (Trim Clip)
+006 A0009970133 (Another Trim Clip)
(Again, there is a date code for this, but it is the same date. Notice that they changed some inner workings and you have to swap some parts - but not the shape of the trunk lid stamping, and it still is not relevant to the 2006-2007 discussions)

Trunk Lid A2037500675
This is the final revision for the W203 body and is current for all produced after 06/30/2003.

The Luxury Sedans were sold through 2007. Starting in 2003: all W203 C230s are Sport Sedans, C240/C280s are Luxury Sedans (though they didn't not start being labeled Luxury Sedan until 2005), and C320/C350s could be had either way but most are Luxury Sedans.

However you look at it though, the trunk skin is the same for all of them.

Cool! I never paid much attention to the sedans, so I wasn't sure. Guess they never went away, just went away in the 230 model. I never noticed!

Talking

Well, I got back from the dealer a couple days ago! Per the parts manager...The reason the trunk lid P/N is the same for the 2006 and 2007 now is that the trunk lid that came on my car and so many others has been discontinued. Mine does have about a 1/4'' lip on it and was the same as the AMG I think. If mine had to be replaced due to damage or whatever, it would get what the 2007 originally came with. It is flatter at the top.

As for the aftermarket spoiler,...They showed me a Lorinser lip type they special ordered. I asked to see the box it came in or anything identifying as a Lorinser since the spoiler has nothing on it and they said it was just in a generic box. Hard to believe for me. They did say they could produce the invoice but it didn't matter anyway for me. I saw it and matched it up to my trunk lid pretty well. It looked to fit close but it wasn't perfect to me and the ends were rounded and didn't really fit the contour around the sides of the trunk lid. Needless to say I wasn't happy.

They also mentioned that they slightly modified and successfully installed a factory Mecedes Benz Lip spoiler that came on an 07 to an 06 once and had no problems. (This was never mentioned before) They claim that the middle of the spoiler has to have material removed to fit over the lip. This sounded better to me until they said at first they couldn't/wouldn't guarantee it since they were modifying it and later chose to say they would guarantee it. They offered to order one and see what I thought.

So now, I am patiently waiting for the factory MB spoiler to arrive. (maybe tomorrow) I'll look at it first, see what they have to do to fit it right and decide which one to go with. They have already removed the Euro one installed in error and repaired and repainted the trunk lid. From what I saw briefly, it looked pretty good. They say they removed the trunk lid and emblems before repainting and reinstalled new ones but who knows??? I do know one thing, when it's done, I will at least have a spoiler installed free of charge with a written lifetime guarantee on workmanship and parts. As of now, I don't know what else to ask for except to get paid for spending so much time at the dealership. I will say, it's been nice driving around in 2 different loaners, a 2009 C300 and a loaded 2010 C300 they currently gave me. The wife still wants her ef'in car back though. For now, she'd rather drive my Lexus until she gets her car back.

I await your feedback!

why are you still bothering with the dealership???????????????????????????????????????

whatever they are saying/you wrote are completely 100% FALSE. just get the spoiler, paint it, and put it on already!!

parts department cannot refuse to sell you a part that YOU want to get doesn't matter if they THINK if it'll fit or not.

this is turning into one of those "will this fit my car" "my quest for quad exhaust" threads.......I'm out.

all authentic lorinser trunk spoiler comes with a box that says Lorinser on it as well has a oval shape indent on the spoiler for the very small Lorinser logo/badge.

Hey, sorry Frank! Like I said I am new here and admit I don't know shat about MB's! This is the first one I ever bought. I took some of the info I gathered and talked to the parts manager myself but they still deny my current trunk lid is the same as the 07. I appreciate all the info everyone has given but the dealership does have my car, they are attempting to fix their screw up and it isn't costing me a dime to get the thing installed now which eases the pain. I have searched all over and asked anyone and everyone to produce a pic of a 2006 C230 Sport with a 2007 spoiler installed and have not seen hide nor hair of one and hardly even one with an aftermarket installed. I've searched all 2006 cars for sale like mine on the internet and have never seen a 07 factory spoiler installed at an 06 so maybe their is some kind of truth to this difference in spoiler height? I can't imagine why they would deny installing a factory MB part over an aftermarket part after they ef'ed up and immediately attempted to make it right. I'm not ready to pull out yet. I want my car they way I asked it to be in the beginning and it will get there one way or another before it leaves that lot.
Thanks Frank for your suggestions and help. I's been a pleasure!

<Sigh> What part of the idea that the part numbers changed in '03 are we not getting. The same part number from '03 through '07, with or without a spoiler fitted. You are dealing with a dealership that has proven repeatedly they lie, so better you than me. I'm out, good luck.

Is your 06 a Sport version and does it have the slightly raised rear trunk lid?I assume all of them did. Can you post a picture of it please? How was the fit? Any mods needed? Did it install with tape provided? Thanks in advance.

Yes, sport, yes, raised. I'll get a pic up here in a bit using my phone. Fit was really absoloutely perfect. He sells a quality product at formymercedes.com, it's worth the pricetag. Same goes for the paint quality...top notch. No mods needed for fitment, just VERY careful placement via taping it off before removing the tape backing... and yes, installed very well and very easily with the tape - a little too easily, it sucks down like superglue the second you snap it down on the trunklid, so take your time. I found that securing the top part down first and then kind of flipping it down worked the best. ill get the pics up soon.

Thanks Cp! The pics are good. The spoiler really seems to fit the contour of the car and trunk lid nicely as if it was a factory one. It don't look like the ends/edges of the spoiler ride/rise above any of the trunk lid areas which means a good, snug fit. The "Lorinser" one that the dealer got doesn't seem to fit well enough for me when holding it up for a dry fit which makes me think they got some other brand or Lorinser knock off. They say they can make it fit perfectly,..who knows? If you get time, please post another shot close up around the brakelight on the trunk lid. I thought on the 07's the factory spoiler's diecut rested slightly above the top of the brakelight, possibly a 1/4'' or more. Since the one you have is aftermarket too, I'm sure it cannot be an exact replica but yours would suffice or me if i wasn't in the middle of the dealer trying to fix their mess now.
Thanks again! I do appreciate your time.

No problem at all on a lazy Saturday!

Here ya go, this spoiler is also about a 1/4" above the center tail light, just as it is on my wifes 07 (woulda taken a snap of hers if she were home).

good luck with the dealer.

oh, and as for the dry run - it was plain to see that during my dry run with this spolier that it was going to fit perfectly... so, id be concerned if the fit wasnt right on during the fitting myself...

What do you mean it fits the trunk lid like it is a factory one? It IS a factory one. He said it is the OEM spoiler from the 2007 car which he has put on his 2006. It is not a replica. It's THE spoiler. Like we've tried to tell you all along the trunk lids are identical on the 06 and 07 cars and the spoiler will fit either.

Ok Matt, I appreciate what you have said. The part he installed is an aftermarket spoiler. It is even described as an AFTERMARKET spoiler from the site he bought it from. It may fit well and look identical but, it doesn't claim to be a factory or OEM part. I guess I'm done here too. His spoiler looks great and is exactly what I want for my ride. Why the dealer didn't/couldn't/wouldn't/ do this for me from the beginning is out of my control and something I really have no explanation for. They knew what I wanted and ef'ed it up. It seems almost everyone here is getting a little tired of me so I'll shut up and decline from asking anymore about this subject. Just remember, you guys aren't in my shoes and the fact of it is, is that the dealer has my ride and it will have to fixed before I drive this thing off the lot. Thanks again to all whom have tried to help.

Okay, I guess I'm not done here. The plot thickens and I need more help to get my car straight! I talked to the parts manager at the dealership and he tells me the 07 factory spoiler has been discontinued and he can't find one. He did find one at a dealership in Seattle, Washington but they don't want to sell it them Duh!? What dealership has parts they don't want to sell?
The part number for the 07 spoiler is 2037900888. Does anyone here work at a an MB dealership??? If anyone can find one of these in there area please pass on the info. If not, let me know if there is any truth that they are discontinued or not. I'll try to make some calls tomorrow to other local dealers in my area and see if they get one.
Thanks in advance

I read it back twice to to the parts guy. The one he said I need ends in 888 unlike your 788 The dealer tells they made mostly black and silver. The color code was 9775 for silver. They said they repaint if the color required isn't available.
