Well folks…Finally …I’ve got all the C32 front brake parts, they look very nice indeed
… its been confirmed that its got only 1 part number for the rotors so its un-directional.

well i see many people here wanting to upgrade their brakes, but lets be real here you will probably never outdrive the stock brakes on a street car. also you can upgrade the brakes all you want, put 20 inch rotors on that mother and 20 piston calipers but YOUR BRAKES ARE ONLY AS GOOD AS THE TRACTION OF YOUR TIRES. if you exceed the threshold of the tires ability to properly provide enough resistance to stop the car then the upgrade is useless on a car that is driven on the street everyday and for that mater on a track also. if you leave the tires that came on the car on it after the brake upgrade then whats the use? this is just my opinion and if you wish to spend 600+ dollars for a caliper that says AMG, to each their own.

3 reasons for me....
1. A real bargain .... where else can you get Brembo made 4 pistons calipers, cross drilled rotors and a set of brakes pads for about US$700??.
2. Better braking
3. Last but not least ... the looks

1) the faster heat reduction capabilities,
2) the increased clamping force,
3) and increased brake torque.
Why does it matter? Scientific studies suggest that the average person's reaction time within the fraction of the second the brain instructs your feet to depress the brake pedal results in 13 feet of extra stopping distance when your speed is around 25mph.
In my opinion, the human factor will always remain the same, so the only way to enhance and shorten the stopping distance is through mechanical means.
This equates to brake upgrades, even if you keep your suspension and tires as is... the increase in brake torque and clamping force might be enough to reduce that 13 feet down to 12 feet of stopping distance.
That reduction in stopping distance might not sound a lot, but sometimes even an inch or two makes a big difference.
Just my opinion.

You may want to checkout this Car And Driver Article on brake comparisons.

Out Of Control!!
The problem is until you have experienced an upgraded brake system from stock, you will not fully comprehend the differences. On the same tires, it will stop faster and smoother each and every time. Even the C32 can benefit greatly from a brake upgrade, so why can't non-AMG cars???

yeah.... luv them brembos on my volvo. funny thing is...the new e320 stops shorter than the e55 (both w211)..... car and driver 70-0... 03-03 issue e320 did 166ft, e55 did 175...then in 05-03 issue e55 did 173 again...mass is mass? or is the electrogizmos not stopping the e55 properly...

E55 = 1,730kg / E320 = 1649kg (source: MBUSA.com)
Delta = 81kg.
Though other numerous factors may affect the overall braking efficiency of each vehicle (i.e., tire characteristics, suspension, temperatures, road surface, etc.), the gross vehicle weight difference of 81kg between the two cars during testing would have the most impact on the difference of 9 feet of stopping distance.

mmm....u'd think the better/grippier tires and wider tires AND bigger brakes would stop that 87kg difference (basically a full grown man's weight)...oh well..

If you are racing the car then upgraded brakes are a must. However, I would guess that most people(even the people on this board) aren't track(laps) racing thier Benzes.
That Car and Driver brake comparo is interesting because the stock brakes are just as good as the mega buck aftermarket brakes until after several successive high speed stops. Then the stockers go south and the big brake kits shine.
The stock C-series brakes are an excellent system. Another Car and Driver comparo had a C320 sedan (w/ sport package) out-braking all the competition.

E320 vs E55 brakes
I was at the dealer Thursday, and there were an E320 and an E55 parked next to each other. The rotors were the same size, but cross drilled on the 55. The calipers appeared to be identical except for paint and decals.
Edit: Sorry for the confusion. The cars were a W209's, a CLK500 and a CLK55.

?
u talking about which e320 and which e55? i'm talking about the w211 for both. the brakes are completely different. for one, the e320 only has 4 piston calipers clamping ventilated discs on the front, and solid discs on the rear. the e55 has 8 piston calipers in the front, and both front and rear are ventilated discs...
i think the difference in curb weight should be more like 3783 vs 4243...460 lbs or 200 kg...

The 55 brakes are nice to look at, and the feel very smooth, but man are those suckers heavy! Go to the parts department and ask for a SL55 front rotor, it weighs close to 40lbs (or more). AMG did a nice job getting big calipers and rotors, but they don't have the whole light-weight philosophy down yet... A 14" Brembo F50 kit would stop better. You should see the 15" 8-piston!
