Help, I'm losing my boot!
The boot around my shifter just pulled loose, any thoughts on how to re-attach it? It's just sitting there and doesn't seem to clip in anywhere...

The best fix is to replace it. Someone has a thread on how to fix it with paper clips but that's really a botch job.
Looks as though the rear clip has gone.

Botch job? Uh, that was me spank boy, and it works just great.
Since they don't sell the surround piece with the clips, and the whole assembly is 150 or more, I'd say it's quite good!
Pop the trim piece, remove the gear shift knob and leather boot, drill some tiny hole through the the side of the plastic where the clips are or were, place into the trim piece, use some paper clips through the drilled holes, and viola.
Put the shift knob on, snap the trim in, and you're done. It will never come off again,
the only caveat is that you must unsnap the trim and remove it, the boot/bezel and the trim as one, and let your mechanic know too.

I still think it's a botch job but Hey! - whatever floats your boat.

Thats a good question, how do you take the whole thing apart? Does the shift knob just screw off?

i remember you could order just the chrome. that was the quote i remember i got from my parts guy. maybe they changed it again? either way I didn't even end up buying new chrome piece since I take them apart a lot when I was installing all kinds of stuff, so i would've probably broke them again. ended up just velcro the thing down and it works nicely.
