On the C230K, on the steering column, there's a little plastic thing with a tiny hole that sticks out. Do you guys know what that thing is for? I think on my friend's E class, it's a light that lights up the ignition key area for you to see at night. Don't know what it is for in my C230.

Second question, for those who have installed the illuminated door sills, did you get them from the dealer? Is there anywhere I can get them for a cheaper price? Also, is it hard to install them yourself?

1) i think you're talking about the nub which is a place holder for the stalk that is used for the voice recognition handle thingy. you pull it to talk to the car if you have the option(i believe).

2) i have illuminated door sills. you can talk to the dealer to have them order you some and they will install them too. i just had them put on with the price of the car when i bought it, but you can get them put on anytime. they are awesome. if you have the dealer do everything (order and installation), it will cost you about 800 bucks. 400 for the sills, and 400 for the install. just talk to your dealer, they'll know what you're talking about and they'll be able to tell you what your options are. if you can find them online for cheaper, go for it. if you can install them yourself, go for it, but it involves more than just sticking them on and plugging in the power.

If you want door sills talk to harris. He's a member here and his company makes them custom for a lot less and they are first rate quality. And you can have him put on anything you want.
