changing tire..
noob question guys..
ok.. i blew the left front tire.. and now trying to replace it.. raised the car (jack) and took all 5 lug nuts off the rims.. i can't take it off.. i'm banging the wheels a bit but i'm worried that if i bang it too hard, the tiny jack may slip, etc..i have the tire up that it's not touching the ground..
am i missing any thing? do i need to take off the center cap and loosen something? this is my first time changing the tire.. i need to take this to discount tire later to buy new front tires..
e-brakes off, and it's on Park.. to i have to set it to N(eutral)?
thanks..

Call roadside assistance (1-800-FOR MERCedes) and let them deal with that. It's free of charge as far as I know.

2. Make sure damaged wheel is freely off the ground.
3. Grab the wheel sides, gear in N, and try to turning it forward and backwards while pulling it off.
4. If unsuccessful, put an ice bag on the wheel metal axle, to contract it to max. Take the wheel cap off and go with ice on the axle outside end too. It ought to come off (use a plastic mallet, frontways and sideways).
Plastic wheels? Woaaaah! Good luck.

+1 if you don't have proper jack call them you don't want to hurt yourself. My wheels get stuck on and i have to get my rubber mallet out and smack the crap out of them to get it off.

its free while your under warranty. You just need a breaker bar. The mud and water makes the lugs seize from being on there so long. A breaker bar should allow enough torque to loosen the bolts.

Actually, everyone, this stuff is free for the LIFETIME of the vehicle - no matter how old it gets, no matter how many owners it has. As long as it drives down the road it is covered under Mercedes Roadside assistance. They will bring you gas and change your tire for free. This applies even if you are simply borrowing someone else's Mercedes.
As far as I know, Mercedes is the only company that provides 24HR roadside assistance for the lifetime of the vehicle.
OP: My rims have never been stuck on, but they're taken off and put on every 6000 miles when I rotate across axle. If I were you, I'd definitely let Benz roadside handle it. They've changed a tire in my driveway before. I'm simply not good with tools and do not like getting my hands dirty.

http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/contact_us/overview and select FAQ "Is my vehicle covered by Roadside Assistance even............"
Mercedes Roadside Assistance comes with EVERY Mercedes vehicle, no matter how old.
It is 24/7.
They provide for free :
1) Jump start
2) Install new battery (free labor, you buy the OEM battery that they carry on the truck, so you get the full MB warranty on the battery, and a record of replacement on file at the dealer)
3) Install your spare tire (remove flat install spare)
4) Deliver a couple gallons of gas or diesel to get you to the nearest gas station.
Everything above is on Mercedes Benz's tab.
Roadside is available to do more services as well, such as lockouts, minor repairs etc, but they do require a fee.
As for lockouts, if your vehicle has an option for tele-aid, it becomes totallyworth it if you are stuck someplace with your keys locked in, to be able to have the MB satellite unlock your car for you!![](http://www.benzworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Each dealer has a Roadside Tech with around a 30 mile radius of the shop.
Roadside Assistance doesn't cover towing.
Towing while under warranty is at the manufacturers discretion.
Otherwise, roadside will gladly arrange a tow for you, so you don't have to fuss with it.
The benefits of using MB roadside are great. We know about the vehicles. We have the special tools. You can stay warm and dry while somebody rescues your stranded vehicle.

do you not have any jackstands to put under the car besides it being on the jack. What I always do if I dont have my jackstands is to put the spare tire under the side of the car beside the jack that ways if it falls itll land on the tire and not crash into the ground possibly breaking some suspension components. It's probably just on there from all the dirty and debris from the roads. Try using a rubber mallet and just smacking the tire from one side to the other.
